On May 7, the unveiling ceremony of the Ningde Contact Point of the Chinese Hometown of Overseas Chinese (Fujian) Research Center was held in the Fu'an Municipal Party Committee compound in Ningde. Weng Xiaojie, Vice Chairman of Fujian Provincial Federation of Overseas Chinese, Chen Weiliang, Chairman of Ningde Municipal Federation of Overseas Chinese, Miao Bihua, Member of the Standing Committee of Fu'an Municipal Party Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department, and Lin Sheng, Director of the Chinese Hometown of Overseas Chinese (Fujian) Research Center, attended the ceremony.

Weng Xiaojie expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of the Ningde Contact Point of the Chinese Hometown of Overseas Chinese (Fujian) Research Center. He hoped that the contact point should make scientific plans, give full play to its advantages, do a good job in the research of overseas Chinese in eastern Fujian with high standards, and create a high-level think tank for overseas Chinese research in eastern Fujian. First, we should take the important statement of General Secretary Xi Jinping on overseas Chinese affairs as a fundamental guideline, adhere to the theme of "gathering the hearts and strength of overseas Chinese and sharing the Chinese dream with them", and take "root", "soul" and "dream" as the main line to better serve overseas Chinese. Second, we should promote joint research across departments, disciplines and fields, promote colleges and universities and social organizations to support and participate in relevant academic research, and promote in-depth cooperation between research centers and overseas Chinese businessmen and enterprises. Third, we should continue to rely on the rich overseas Chinese resources in Fu'an, broaden our research horizons, and carry out theoretical research on overseas Chinese affairs around the history, humanities, economy, and society of overseas Chinese and their hometown.
Chen Weiliang said that the establishment of the contact point will help Ningde better gather the hearts of overseas Chinese, give full play to their strength, and promote the export-oriented economy represented by the electrical machinery industry, new stainless steel material industry, shipbuilding industry, and tea industry in Fu'an City to better integrate into the "Belt and Road" national strategy, and boost the high-quality economic and social development of Ningde.
Lin Sheng pointed out in his speech that Fuzhou University has a long-term academic heritage and fine tradition in carrying out research on overseas Chinese and their hometown, and said that he would strongly support the construction of Ningde contact point of the Chinese Overseas Chinese (Fujian) Research Center, strengthen academic research and exchanges, and contribute to the development of overseas Chinese research.
