Musician Yang Zongnan: My creation is rooted in my hometown Quanzhou

Quanzhou musician Yang Zongnan, together with local original music groups in Quanzhou and inheritors of intangible cultural heritage produced by Nanxiao, has jointly created the musical work Hairpin Flower Wai with unique Quanzhou characteristics. National style pop music is integrated with intangible cultural heritage Nanyin, and the new charm of the ancient city is widely concerned and loved. Recently, the reporter interviewed musician Yang Zongnan to talk about the history and future of Quanzhou culture in the song "Past and present".

The original form of the song "Hairpin Surround" is the song "Suxin", which was created by Wu Daxin, a friend of Yang Zongnan and a contemporary artist of Quanzhou, in Fengze Library. Suxin is the national flower of Pakistan. It came to Quanzhou along the Maritime Silk Road and became a frequent visitor of Charybdis' "Head Garden". Yang Zongnan, who loves historical and cultural research, was inspired when he learned about the history of jasmine flowers. He integrated romantic and moving love stories into the magnificent Haisi theme and created the song "Jasmine".

"A touch of fragrance appears, just like turning over the dusty book paper, the spring is sweet, not as sweet as your lips, raising the sweet moment.".. The song "Jasmine" describes a Pakistani boy who came to Quanzhou to catch sight of the jasmine flowers on the head of Charybdis girls and was moved. In this way, a moving story linked by a jasmine flower leaped between the notes. "When I wrote this song at that time, I not only told the story of Charybdis Village, but also wanted to express the historical and future exchanges, cultural trade, economic exchanges and cultural self-confidence of Quanzhou." Yang Zongnan recalled.

Although the theme of Suxin is excellent, it has not been integrated into Quanzhou's local traditional music - Nanyin, which has become a pity for Yang Zongnan. Soon after, Yang Zongnan was very excited about the launch of the intangible cultural heritage music plan of "Happy to See the Intangible Cultural Heritage", and thought it was a particularly good opportunity to promote Quanzhou culture. So he innovated "Suxin" and combined with Nanyin to create a new song "Hairpin Surround", which incorporated the intangible cultural heritage into the song content and form.

The lyrics of Hairpin Surround can follow the local scenic spots in Quanzhou everywhere, such as Kaiyuan Temple, Zhenwu Temple, Fashi Ferry, South Shaolin Temple, etc. When talking about the place where he collected the wind when he created, Yang Zongnan told the reporters the profound meaning and historical stories contained in each lyric. In fact, what touched him most was the word "swallow the sea" on the stone tablet of Zhenwu Temple. "The simple two words can reflect the Minnan people's spirit of living and thriving towards the sea". In the land of growing up, Yang Zongnan can always draw inspiration from his creation, exclaim the spirit of the ancestors who dare to fight and win, and put his feelings for his hometown into his works, using the power of music to promote Quanzhou.

After the launch of "Hairpin Surround", it was highly praised. The collision between pop music and traditional Nanyin burst out brilliant artistic sparks. This collision not only injected new vitality into traditional Nanyin, but also added a profound cultural heritage to pop music. The history and culture of Quanzhou sung in the song also attracted more tourists to visit and feel Quanzhou. Yang Zongnan was very pleased about this and said that this was the original intention of his creation.

Nowadays, more and more tourists come to Quanzhou because of the famous hairpin flowers. They go to Charybdis Village to experience the hairpin encirclement. Seeing that the cultural tourism in their hometown is so hot, Yang Zongnan hopes that tourists can learn more about the more attractive history and culture of the thousand year old city of Quanzhou through hairpin flowers. Yang Zongnan ended his song with "Just like the appointment", which also expressed Quanzhou's bright prospect of opening up to welcome visitors from all over the world and making appointments with the world.

For future creation, Yang Zongnan said that his hometown is his blessed land, which will be rooted in his hometown soil and culture in the future.
