Create an exchange platform and create a better future - 2023 China Africa Culture and Tourism Cooperation Forum was held

On November 8, the 2023 China Africa Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Forum was held in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. With the theme of "strengthening China Africa cultural exchange and tourism cooperation, and building a high-level China Africa community of shared future", the forum was co sponsored by the Bureau of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the China Tourism Research Institute, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Zhejiang Province, and the People's Government of Jinhua City, and hosted by the Bureau of Culture, Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism of Jinhua City. More than 200 people, including representatives of China and the African Union, African countries, envoys to China, industry experts and agency representatives, attended the forum.

Du Jiang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, said in his speech that culture is an important spiritual bond connecting people of all ethnic groups, and tourism is a bridge to spread civilization and enhance friendship. Cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation are an inexhaustible driving force for the deepening and development of China Africa relations, as well as an important part of China Africa exchanges and mutual learning and people to people connections. Deepening China Africa cultural and tourism cooperation, sharing successful experiences and measures, and strengthening the docking of cooperation needs will promote the common progress of China Africa culture and tourism, make the development achievements benefit the majority of Chinese and African people, provide support for both sides to realize their respective development visions, and play a positive role in building a high-level China Africa community of shared destiny.

In his speech, the State Minister of the Ministry of Tourism of Ethiopia Selesi said that both Africa and China have splendid cultures, long histories and rich natural resources. China has made great achievements in cultural protection and promoted the integration of culture and tourism. African countries are also enthusiastic about promoting the beautiful African continent and promoting economic development through tourism. The Forum on China Africa Cultural and Tourism Cooperation will make significant contributions to strengthening China Africa relations and promoting the protection and inheritance of culture and tourism.

Liu Shijun, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the World Tourism Alliance, Atisu, Deputy Director of the Cooperation and Occupation Department of the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure of Cote d'Ivoire, Tang Xiaoyun, Vice President of the Chinese Tourism Research Institute, and Liu Hongwu, President of the African Research Institute of Zhejiang Normal University, delivered keynote speeches respectively. Representatives of China and Africa also carried out high-end dialogues around the "deep integration of culture and tourism, enabling China Africa tourism cooperation". The participants agreed that under the framework of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation, China Africa cultural and tourism cooperation has made great progress, consolidated the cornerstone of China Africa "connectivity", and provided important support for enhancing China Africa understanding and friendship, promoting the upgrading of China Africa cooperation, and driving the development of China Africa cultural industries. Taking this forum as an opportunity, China and Africa will continue to strengthen dialogue, share experience and promote the in-depth development of bilateral cultural and tourism cooperation.

In recent years, Jinhua, which strives to "build an international hub city and forge ahead into a modern metropolitan area", has actively carried out cultural tourism cooperation and exchanges between China and Africa, and has "courageously taken the lead and written a new chapter" in promoting cultural tourism exchanges between China and Africa, mutual learning between Chinese and African academia, and enhancing mutual cultural emotional identity. In 2018, Jinhua held the China Africa Cultural Cooperation and Exchange Week for the first time. Since then, cultural tourism cooperation and exchange projects have been held, such as the "China Africa Night" Carnival, the Wu Opera Special Session of the China Africa Economic and Trade Forum, the China Africa Film Exhibition, the China Africa Visual Art Exhibition, the Africa Museum Open Week, overseas famous school students entering Jinhua's ancient villages, and the "Golden World Clouds in Africa" Cloud Exhibition. This year, a series of activities were upgraded for the first time to China Africa Cultural Cooperation and Exchange Month, constantly promoting "Chinese culture moves towards Africa, and African cultures converge in Zhejiang".
