Android is a free and open source operating system based on Linux, which is mainly used for mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablets. It is led and developed by Google and the Open Mobile Alliance. There is no uniform Chinese name, and many people in mainland China use "Android" or "Android". The Android operating system was originally developed by Andy Rubin and mainly supports mobile phones. In August 2005, it was acquired by Google for capital injection. In November 2007, Google and 84 hardware manufacturers, software developers and telecom operators formed an open mobile phone alliance to jointly develop and improve the Android system. Then Google released the source code of Android under the Apache open source license. The first Android smartphone was released in October 2008. In the fourth quarter of 2013, the global market share of Android phones reached 78.1%. On September 24, 2013, Android, the operating system developed by Google, celebrated its fifth birthday. The number of devices using this system around the world has reached 1 billion. In the first quarter of 2014, the Android platform accounted for 42.8% of all mobile advertising traffic sources, surpassing iOS for the first time. But the operating income is lower than iOS.
