Technology giants because of excessive pursuit AI Competition, resulting in product quality decline

The reason for the decline of AI product quality is that giants compete to integrate LLM powered AI, leading to wrong answers

Former Google employees and former Google employees Reddit CEOs have criticized the efforts of technology giants in AI competitions

Message from webmaster's home (ChinaZ. com) on May 23: Yishan Wong, former CEO of Reddit, pointed out that the excessive obsession of technology giants with artificial intelligence (AI) has begun to affect the quality of their products. In an article on Wednesday, Wong said: "Big Internet giants are falling into the memetic competition of AI, while Google's fear of OpenAI's survival is at the center."

Wong added that this led them to integrate LLM powered AI into their products, but AI sometimes gave wrong answers, which would cause problems when the existing quality/accuracy expectations of the products were higher. Wong believes that now we have a worse product, because technology giants are obsessed with "competing on AI", rather than just providing high-quality and useful products.

Wong's comments are similar to those of Scott Jenson, a former Google employee. Jenson criticized his former employer's failed attempt to win the AI contest on LinkedIn on Monday. He wrote: "The vision is that there will be a Jarvis assistant like Tony Stark on the phone, locking you in their ecosystem, so that you will never leave."

Although established companies like Google and Meta have been trying to catch up with emerging companies like OpenAI, having rich funds and resources has not brought the technology giants the advantages they expect. In February this year, Google was in trouble because its chat robot Gemini's image generation function was referred to as "awakening".

On social media, people claim that Google AI has continuously generated images of people of color in an inaccurate historical context. In the face of criticism, Google suspended Gemini's image generation function on February 22. The company admitted Gemini's mistake a day ago, saying that the chat robot was "out of shape".

For Meta, its decision to launch an AI based chat robot on its social media platform has aroused users' ridicule. Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram users are now forced to use chat bots that cannot be closed, instead of the regular search bar.
