On May 8 local time, the commencement ceremony of the 100 MW photovoltaic project in Kairouan, Tunisia, which was jointly contracted by Tianjin Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. of China Energy Engineering Corporation and Northwest Electric Engineering Institute of China Energy Engineering Corporation, was held at the site. Fatma Tabet Kibbub, Minister of Energy of Tunisia, and Zhao Zhiyong, member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of Tianjin Power Construction attended the ceremony.
Fatma Tabet Chibu said in his speech that the Kairouan photovoltaic project is the first large-scale ground photovoltaic power station in Tunisia and the largest single photovoltaic power station under construction in Tunisia at present. It can operate for 25 years, generate about 5.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 5 million tons, which is equivalent to planting 12 million trees in the Sahara Desert.
It is reported that the Kairouan PV project is located in Kairouan City, east of central Tunisia, covering an area of about 200 hectares, including the design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of 100 MW ac photovoltaic power station. After the completion of the project, it can generate 222 million kilowatt hours of electric energy every year, which will provide sufficient clean and green renewable energy for Tunisian industrial and agricultural production and people's living, and will play a positive role in promoting the energy structure adjustment, industrial transformation and upgrading, economic and social development and ecological environment protection of the country.
Li Lixin and Xu Zhiyong, deputy general managers of Tianjin Power Construction Overseas Engineering Co., Ltd., relevant principals of Africa Branch and relevant personnel of China Energy Engineering Northwest Electric Power Design Institute attended the meeting. |
