The elderly eat here for free!

Late work

At 11:00 on the 7th, in the Yuhua Public Welfare Service Center of Yan'an Community, Hongqi Street, Chaoyang District, hot food was served on the table, and 91 year old Uncle Luan was full of praise for the environment and food here. The first free elderly care service center settled in the community in our province officially opened its doors. Elderly people aged 70 and above, disabled people and special groups can not only have free meals here, but also volunteers can provide them with corresponding services.

During the trial operation stage of the restaurant, Mr. Luan had already come here for dinner. The old man said that he not only ate well, but also felt particularly comfortable with the service here. "The restaurant opens from 11:00 to 12:00 every day. Usually, there are three or four dishes, low in oil and salt, and it doesn't cost a penny. When we enter the door, someone greets us and helps us arrange seats." Sun Liwei, a severely disabled person, has also become a guest here. He told reporters that after his mother died, he lived alone. He felt at home when he came to Yuhua Public Welfare Service Center for the Elderly. "As soon as I came in, the staff said, 'Are you going home for dinner?' The food was served quickly. It was so convenient and warm!"

Shen Yue, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yan'an Community, said that there are many elderly people in the community and there is a great demand for services for the elderly. The settlement of the Yuhua Public Welfare Service Center for the Elderly has raised the community's service level for the elderly to a new level. "At present, there are 1478 elderly people over 60 years old and 646 elderly people over 70 years old in the community. Through the early trial operation, we found that this" charity+canteen for the elderly "model is particularly popular. This makes us more confident, attract more volunteers and teams into the community, do better public service, and more close to the hearts of the elderly and special groups."

Zhang Bo, director of Hongqi Neighborhood Office, told reporters that they would continue to integrate resources in the area under their jurisdiction, improve service functions, expand service coverage, and carry out "door-to-door delivery", "love into the home" and other services to help the elderly and disabled facing the elderly, empty nesters and solitary residents in the area under their jurisdiction, so as to open up the "last mile" of food aid services.
