Full automatic floor sweeping robot, artificial intelligence assisted home health care system, "deep sleep hut" smart home sleep system... Recently, at the 4th China International Consumer Goods Expo held in Hainan, cutting-edge technology products related to smart home attracted a large number of visitors to stop and experience, becoming the hot spot of the exhibition.

This year's government work report proposed to actively cultivate new consumption growth points such as smart home, entertainment tourism, sports events, and "trendy goods" of Chinese goods. At present, the smart home industry ushers in a period of rapid growth, and new scenarios of smart home continue to emerge.

Change to "space adapts to people"

Smart home is the product of the integration of artificial intelligence technology and Internet of Things technology in the home scene. Its core is to make home appliances and even the home environment intelligent, which can schedule the entire home environment according to the specific living needs of residents, so that residents can enjoy a convenient, comfortable and safe life.

In recent years, the rapid progress of AI technology has brought strong impetus to the development of smart home industry. The emergence of new technologies has promoted the landing of new concepts and spawned various new functions and products. If smart home used to be in the single product intelligence stage centered on a certain type of product, it is now turning to the scene intelligence stage centered on meeting specific needs with the help of new technologies.

The White Paper on the Development of China's Smart Home (AIoH) in 2023 shows that the development of smart home can be divided into three stages. The 1.0 era is centered on intelligent single equipment, and people can complete the basic intelligent control of equipment through manual, voice, remote control, etc. In the era of 2.0, diversified home scenes have become the core. With the help of network communication and Internet of Things technology, we can meet the diverse needs of families and promote the overall linkage of scenes. In the 3.0 era, user personalized needs become the core of smart home scenarios. Smart home will use machine vision, deep learning, semantic recognition and other technologies to optimize the artificial intelligence algorithm of vision, perception, navigation, decision-making and other functions, strengthen the independent decision-making ability of smart home, and truly create a smart home environment that understands human needs.

In the 3.0 era, with the help of AI, users can use voice, gesture and other natural interaction methods to "talk" with smart home products. Smart home can also use deep learning technology to continuously learn users' behavior habits and scene needs, identify users' needs in advance, actively provide services that meet users' needs, and transform from "people adapt to space" to "space adapt to people" without users' active operation.

In addition, while collecting the internal information of the home environment, the smart home system can also link the home environment with the external environment by connecting external information, such as weather conditions, traffic information, etc., so as to provide more accurate intelligent services, open up the entire intelligent life chain for users, and dig and create new intelligent life scenes.

Scene recognition becomes popular

It is a major trend of smart home development to automatically identify and provide services around different life scenes of users. Users can open a series of intelligent scenes without complex settings and operations, and only need a simple command or action.

In the morning, when the alarm clock rings, the curtains in the bedroom will automatically open, and the sound box will sound soothing music and automatically broadcast the weather conditions of the day. Out of the bedroom, daily appliances such as kettle, surveillance camera and air purifier in the living room and dining room also "wake up" from the sleep mode and return to the daily working state.

When the user walks out of the house, the intelligent door lock is locked, and all lamps, stoves, televisions, air purifiers, etc. in the home stop working one after another. The sweeping robot goes out to clean the whole house, and the surveillance camera turns on the "home watching mode" to protect the family safety in an all-round way. If anything happens, it will push information to the user's mobile phone in real time.

When the night comes, the user drives back, and through the electronic fence set in advance, the smart home can know the user's home information in advance through the vehicle location. Air conditioners, water heaters, etc. will be switched to the preset mode in advance, allowing users to enter the door to enjoy comfort

These scenes have now become reality. Driven by artificial intelligence technology, smart home systems can not only adapt to people, but also recognize and assist people. For example, Huawei applies the vehicle mounted millimeter wave radar to smart homes. It can detect whether there is a person in a specific space, and also detect the specific position of a person in the space, and intelligently save electricity according to the person's behavior in the space. "When the artificial intelligence super sensor in the space recognizes that a person is not in the space, it will automatically shut down the typical three major power consumption systems, including lighting, heating and cooling, and audio and video. This technology is widely used in hotels, conference rooms, offices and other places, which will produce huge economic and social benefits." Shao Yang, chief strategic officer of Huawei Terminal BG, said.

In addition, with the help of various types of sensors, AI can also continuously carry out modeling learning and posture recognition, such as identifying whether the elderly fall off the bed, or whether the elderly get up within 16 seconds after collapsing, to provide intelligent protection for vulnerable groups such as the elderly in the home scene.

Break the ecological "isolated island"

With the continuous emergence of new functions and new scenarios, the smart home industry is facing challenges while growing at a high speed. At present, there is ecological fragmentation in the use of different brand products, which has a negative impact on user experience and benign industrial competition, and is not conducive to the further development of the industry. He Xiaoyu, Deputy Secretary General of the Global Smart Internet of Things Alliance (preparatory), said: "Now there is still the problem of ecological fragmentation in the smart home industry, and everyone is repeatedly 'building wheels'. From the perspective of industry organizations, we hope to break the dilemma of ecological fragmentation and bring better experience to users."

At present, more and more leading enterprises and industry organizations are committed to building a unified connection standard for smart home, realizing the interconnection of smart home devices across platforms, brands and categories, and laying a solid foundation for more smart home scenarios. Not long ago, the industry standard "Technical Requirements for Cross platform Access Authentication of Mobile Internet+Smart Home System" jointly drafted by leading smart home enterprises such as Huawei, TCL, Midea and Xiaomi was officially released after being approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This standard specifies the process and technical requirements for unified device discovery, distribution network and access authentication in smart home systems, which is applicable to the development of interconnection software for smart home application terminals, control terminals, apps, cloud platforms and other related products, and provides a feasible solution for different smart home devices to connect to a unified ecological platform.

In addition, with the support of the Connectivity Standards Alliance, the connectivity protocol Matter, which was jointly developed by more than 600 technology companies, also officially released version 1.3 in early May. As a symbol of connectivity, Matter has opened up multiple ecosystems, allowing users to choose more products or brands when choosing smart homes.

Secure the bottom line

In addition to bridging the connection barriers between different ecological platforms, security is also the bottom line that must be adhered to in the development of smart home scenes. Smart home devices will collect and analyze users' life data and connect with the Internet or the Internet of Things. Once these data containing a lot of family privacy are leaked, it will bring serious hidden dangers to family safety, so it must be highly protected.

The information security and privacy protection of household appliances are actually very systematic. In addition to the household appliances themselves, access operators and enterprises providing various services will have an impact on users' information security.

In recent years, under many basic legal frameworks such as the Network Security Law, the Data Security Law, and the Personal Information Protection Law, the national and industrial standards on smart home data and information security have been continuously refined. For example, the national standard GB/T41387-2022 General Security Specification for Information Security Technology Smart Home puts forward general security requirements around four core components of smart home equipment, control software, gateway, and application service platform, which provides the smart home industry with a basic and universal unified security standard model and helps guide enterprises to design and produce safer smart home products, So that consumers can choose and use at ease.
