UL1007 electronic cable, introduce what is UL certification

UL certification is the abbreviation of Underwriters Laboratories Inc., which is one of the largest private institutions engaged in safety testing and appraisal in the world. In the development process of more than 100 years, it has formed a set of strict preparation management system, standard development and product certification procedures. It is a separate, non-profit, professional organization that conducts experiments for public safety. It uses scientific methods to study and determine whether various materials, devices, products, equipment, buildings, etc. are harmful to life and property; Determine, prepare and issue corresponding standards and materials that can help reduce and prevent loss of life and property. At the same time, research business is carried out, safety certification of products and operation of safety certification business. Its ultimate purpose is to provide the market with goods of a fairly safe standard.

UL, as an independent third-party inspection agency, has its own unique personnel in its composition year. It is managed by a board of directors composed of safety related personnel, officials of relevant departments, consumers, education, utilities, insurance and standards departments. UL's business scope covers more than 70 countries and regions, with 16500 kinds of 77000 product inspection tasks every year. At the same time, there are 480000 factory inspection tasks every year. There are more than 400 employees, more than 40000 customers in most countries, and 9 billion products use UL safety signs. UL is headquartered in Chicago, USA, with five main laboratories, and two laboratories in Asia: Hong Kong and Taipei.

Use the UL mark correctly, UL marks are divided into three categories, namely listing, grading and recognition marks. The main components of these marks are UL patterns, and they are all registered trademarks. It is not universal to apply them to different service products. If a company is recognized by UL, it does not mean that all its products are UL products. Only products with UL logo can be considered as products produced under UL follow-up inspection service. UL distinguishes UL products by using the listing, grading and approval marks used on or in connection with products (see figure). UL's service is based not only on the American UL standard, but also on Canadian standards. UL stipulates that before January 2008, UL and CUL marks can be added to products that have been listed or approved by UL and CUL at the same time. After 2008, new marks will be used.

UL follow-up inspection classification is R and L, and L is mainly used for products related to life safety, such as fire extinguishers, detectors, electrical equipment, wires, etc. For products belonging to category L. The manufacturer must directly order from UL and affix the sign on the product. R products are mainly electrical equipment, such as television, electric fan, hair dryer, oven, etc.

Authenticity identification of UL mark, As an obvious feature of UL products, all UL products must have UL listing, approval or classification marks. Grading marks are rare in China, and most of them are listed and approved products. Column names and approval marks include L-type column names, approval marks, R-type column names and approval marks. Class L listing marks are printed (in the form of labels) and issued by UL in the United States. Its control is generally strict. The logo is mainly composed of four parts:

UL registration pattern, The words "LISTED" shall be capitalized.

UL's (control number) ISSUE NO XXXXX.

Name of the product, There may be some other signs, but the above four are relatively basic. Unlike Class L, Class R listing marks can be directly marked on the products by the factory in the form of color printing, labeling, molding, stamping, etc. (the labels of Class L products must be purchased from UL).

The L-type approval mark is also printed and issued by UL in the United States, which mainly consists of three parts. Class L approval marks are only used on wires and their components. Its components are divided into:

----Approval mark pattern

----Issue No

----Product name

The approval mark of R type products can be identified from the "product mark" specified in the "Approved Parts Catalogue". Generally, it includes factory identification symbol, category number or approved product model. The approval mark of Class R product does not have to appear on the product.

Features of fake UL logo, The four basic parts of UL mark of listed products are incomplete. That is, UL pattern, "LISTED", UL control number and product name are incomplete or inaccurate. For example, the letters U and L in the UL registration pattern are on the same horizontal line, and the words on the label are typed by typewriter, rather than printed or embossed; The words "LISTED" are not all capitalized, such as "Listed"; UL control number is not composed of English letters or numbers, such as all numbers or all English, or more than 4 digits; The full name of UL (Underwrites Laboratories Inc.) lacks letters, etc; The UL column name symbol is printed as an oval.

The printing is rough, the handwriting is vague, and it is biased to one side.

The packaging method of the label is inconsistent with the true label of UL. UL labels with adhesive backing are generally rolled into a bundle, 500 labels in a bundle are cylindrical, and 1000 labels without adhesive backing (used on some wires) are in a strip shape, 10 labels for each. The fake UL label is packaged in sheet form, usually 20 to 60 pieces in one piece, with colored glossy paper as the substrate.

For the labels of the same product in the same factory, there is a certain range of control numbers, but there is no limit to the number of counterfeit UL labels.

Three procedures for applying for UL mark

Obtain and submit application

To send products to UL for inspection, you need to obtain an application form and a UL application form. This work can be completed by contacting UL through relevant agencies such as commodity inspection companies. The factory provides UL with the following information, which is needed by UL to determine the test items, test samples and costs required by the application.

Product name or description. List the specific name of the product to be applied for and give a brief description, including the materials used for the product.

* * * Use of the product. Where is the product used, indoor or outdoor, water or underwater, etc.

Product model. Include product classification number.

Product rating. Such as rated voltage, current, frequency, power, etc.

List of parts and components, including printed circuit boards, switches, wires, fuses, insulation materials, etc. And indicate the corresponding model, name, electrical rating and whether it is UL listed or approved product. The use of UL listed or approved components can reduce the detailed description of this aspect in UL's product test procedures and reports, thus reducing inspection costs and shortening inspection time. For insulation materials, the name and model of raw materials used shall be listed.

Drawings and schematic diagrams. Provide as much information as possible, including circuit diagrams, product drawings and photos, and operation instruction manuals, so that UL can have a better understanding of your products.

Company materials, After receiving the above materials, UL will determine the application standards, test items, test fees and test samples, and send the application form and post inspection service agreement. The application form will indicate the amount of fees and the method of remittance. UL will start the test after receiving the signed agreement, the required fees and the required test samples.

Product testing, UL will test the samples after receiving the signed application form, remittance and experimental test samples, including structural inspection and experiment. After the test is completed, UL will notify the applicant of the results. If the result is qualified, UL will issue two documents; Detailed rules and report of post inspection service. The detailed rules of post inspection service include the description of products and instructions for UL inspectors, which is also the basis for UL inspection.

The report is copied to the applicant, and the detailed rules are copied to each manufacturer. Later, UL may give you an amount certificate, the amount of which is more than the prepaid remittance fee. The tested samples will be returned or destroyed according to your requirements
