The development and application of smart windows: ◆ Since the late 1980s, the American scientist C M. Lampert and Swedish scientist C G. Granqvist et al. proposed a new energy-saving window based on the electrochromic film, namely Smart window, which became another milestone in the research of electrochromism. ◆ In 1999, Stadt Sparkasse Savings Bank was a new building in Dresden, Germany. This building has Europe's first controllable exterior wall made of electrochromic glass. ◆ In January 2004, the glass curtain wall of Swiss Re Building in London, England, used electrochromic technology. ◆ In January 2005, the windshield and roof glass of Ferrari Supermerica convertible sports car adopted electrochromic technology. ◆ In July 2008, the cabin window glass of Boeing 787 airliner eliminated the mechanical side window visor and adopted the electrochromic technology. ◆ In August 2009, France Saint Gobain Group, the largest glass manufacturer in Europe, announced to enter the "smart window" market. ◆ In October 2009, the first comprehensive website on electrochromism in China was established. ◆ On December 15, 2009, the test flight of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner was successful, and electrochromic intelligent dimming glass was used for the windows of the Boeing 787.
