Wood lacquer
close The history of human production and use of paint can be traced back to the Stone Age. According to a large number of archaeological data that have been found, in the primitive society 7000 years ago, human beings had used animal oil, tree sap and natural pigments to prepare primitive finishing materials, and painted with feathers, branches, etc. to achieve the purpose of decoration. With the progress of human society, after entering the Bronze Age, the ancient civilizations at that time made different progress in the preparation of coatings directly using natural materials. As early as the Shang Dynasty, China had taken down natural lacquer decorative appliances, palaces and temples from wild lacquer trees. By the Spring and Autumn Period, we had mastered the technology of refining tung oil to make coatings. In the Warring States Period, we could use raw paint and tung oil to mix coatings. We pioneered the technology of using additives in coatings and promoted the development of coatings to a new era. The lacquered coffins and lacquerware unearthed from the Han Tomb at Mawangdui in Changsha have tough film and excellent protection performance, which fully demonstrates the maturity of the development of Chinese lacquer technology in the second century BC. As a result of the application of tung oil and lacquer, the customary name of "paint" has been spread to this day. In the last century, the major achievements in the theory of polymer science and the successful development of various polymer compounds were put into production, creating a new era for the development of paint. In the 1920s, alkyd resin specially used as film forming material of coatings was successfully developed. Since then, various newly developed synthetic resins have been quickly applied in coatings, making coatings enter the era of mainly synthetic film forming materials. In 1980, the annual production of coatings in the world exceeded 20 million tons, and the annual per capita consumption of coatings in developed countries reached more than 10kg. Modern coatings industry has become an important industry in modern chemical industry. The annual per capita consumption of coatings in China is only one fifth of that in developed countries, but with the development and promotion of the industry, the advantages of coatings have been understood by more and more people, so in the future, the prospects of China's coatings industry are very broad.
