MLLDPE
Metallocene polyethylene is a novel thermoplastic. It is the most important technological progress in the polyolefin industry in the 1990s and an important innovation following the production technology of LLDPE. Because it is polyethylene produced with metallocene (MAO) as polymerization catalyst, its performance is significantly different from that of PE polymerized with traditional Ziegler Natta catalyst. The unique excellent performance and application of metallocene catalysts in the synthesis of metallocene polyethylene have aroused widespread concern in the market. Many world famous large petrochemical companies have invested huge manpower and material resources in the development and research, which has become a hot topic in the polyolefin industry and even the entire plastic industry.

2. Common application of MLLDPE
This new product has created excellent film performance, and the additional benefits for processors are shown in the simplification of formula, reduction of extrusion energy consumption, improvement of film production line output, more sustainable flexible packaging film solutions and diversification of applications, "said David McConville, global market development manager of ExxonMobil Chemical Polyethylene, "These benefits also include the possibility of replacing the complex LLDPE blend formula and significantly thinning the LDPE based blend formula film.
3. Development history of MLLDPE
In the early days, the metallocene catalyst used for ethylene polymerization could only obtain wax with molecular weight of 20000~30000, and the catalytic activity was not high, which was not practical, so it did not attract attention and promotion. Until 1980, Professor Kaminsky of Hamburg University in Germany found that ethylene polymerization was carried out in toluene solution with a cocatalyst composed of cyclopentadienyl zirconium chloride (CP2ZrCl2) and methylaluminoxane (MAO). The activity of the catalyst was up to 106g-PE/g-Zr, and the reaction rate was equivalent to that of enzyme reaction. MAO is a highly oligomeric methylaluminoxane synthesized from dimethyl aluminum and water under conditions other than polymerization system. Professor Kaminsky's discovery has injected vitality into the research of metallocene catalysts, attracted many companies to participate in the development and research, and made considerable progress. In 1991, Exxon Corporation of the United States first realized the industrial production of polyolefins with metallocene catalysts, and produced the first batch of metallocene polyethylene (mPE), whose trade name is "Exact".
