Carbon steel electrode is suitable for welding carbon steel and low strength low alloy steel.
The selection of welding rod shall be based on the requirements of chemical composition, mechanical properties and crack resistance of steel, and the welding structure steel plate Comprehensive analysis of thickness, working conditions, stress, welder performance and other factors. If necessary, conduct welding test, formulate corresponding process measures, and then determine the selection of welding rod.
1. The welding rod corresponding to the strength grade of the steel is generally selected for carbon steel welding. At the same time, considering the complex structure, thick plate, high rigidity, dynamic load and poor weldability, the low hydrogen welding rod with good plasticity, high impact toughness and good crack resistance is generally selected. If there are special requirements for the welding position, corresponding special welding rods shall be used, such as vertical welding rods, backing welding rods, etc. Iron powder electrode can be selected to improve welding efficiency.
2. If the cooling speed of the weld is fast, the strength is high, and the weld is easy to crack, the welding rod with a lower strength than the base metal can be selected; For dissimilar steel welding between low carbon steel and low alloy steel, the welding rod corresponding to the steel with low strength grade is generally selected, and considering the factors of low alloy steel, the low hydrogen type is preferred.
3. For the welding of medium carbon steel, due to the high carbon content of the steel, the tendency of welding cracks is increased. Generally, low hydrogen electrodes are used, and preheating, slow cooling and other methods and appropriate welding processes are adopted.
4. The weldability of cast steel is poor. Generally, the carbon content is high, the workpiece is thick, the structure is complex, and welding cracks are easy to occur. When there are many alloy elements in cast steel, it is more prominent. Generally, low hydrogen electrode is selected, and preheating, slow cooling and other methods and corresponding welding process measures are taken.
5. In order to ensure the welding quality, the welded junction of the workpiece shall be cleaned and free of oil, rust, moisture paint And dirt, which is particularly important for the use of low hydrogen welding rod.
6. For low hydrogen type welding rod, the welding rod must be baked at 350 ℃ for 1h before welding, and used when baking, otherwise it is easy to produce defects such as pores, slag inclusion, cracks, etc. Cellulose electrodes generally do not need to be baked. If they are damp, they should be baked before welding according to the temperature specified in the instructions. However, too high temperature will damage the welding process performance of the electrodes.
7. The welding current specified in the instruction manual is the reference value, which should be mastered in practice. For example, the workpiece preheating can be 5%~15% lower than the normal current; The current of vertical welding and overhead welding is 10%~15% lower than that of flat welding; When DC is used, it can be reduced by about 10% compared with AC. When using DC welding machine, pay attention to the grade of welding station specified in the instruction, otherwise the welding process will be affected.
8. Generally, the low hydrogen electrode should not be baked repeatedly to prevent the coating from being crisp and falling off.
