Direct chlorination
The direct chlorination of benzene to chlorobenzene was the first industrialized production in Britain in 1909 and has been used ever since. The reaction formula is: gas phase method and liquid phase method. yes
① Gas phase method, with reaction temperature of 400~500 ℃, is more expensive than liquid phase method, so it has been eliminated.
② In liquid phase method, ferric trichloride is usually used as catalyst, but when chlorobenzene is generated, polychlorinated benzene is also generated. Its relative velocity constant is as follows:
It can be seen from the above relative speed constant that the formation of polychlorinated benzene can be controlled if the concentration of benzene is kept high and the concentration of chlorobenzene is kept low during the reaction. For this reason, multiple reactors in series or tubular reactors close to piston flow can be used for continuous operation. It is an exothermic reaction, and the reaction heat can be removed by heat carrier. But a better way is to make the reaction at the boiling point of the liquid. At this time, a part of excess benzene and a small amount of chlorobenzene will be gasified, which will take away a lot of heat and increase the production capacity of the reactor. The reaction product contains hydrogen chloride, which should be used in * * * solution before distillation
Oxychlorination
It was successfully developed by German Lashi Company in 1932. The reaction formula is:
The reaction was carried out in the gas phase at 275 ℃ and normal pressure, and the catalyst was copper aluminum oxide. In order to ease the formation of polychlorinated benzene, much excess benzene is needed. However, 5%~8% dichlorobenzene will also be generated.
This method is mainly used in the process of preparing phenol by Rasi process. Since the phenol by Rasi process has been eliminated, this method is no longer used.
