According to the obituary issued by the Law School of Wuhan University, Zhang Wanhong was born in Luoyang, Henan Province, on June 15, 1976. From 1993 to 2004, he studied in Wuhan University and obtained Bachelor of Law, Master of Law and Doctor of Law respectively; Joined the Communist Party of China on March 22, 1996; Completed the certificate program of Nanjing University Johns Hopkins University in 2002-2003; From 2011 to 2012, he studied at Columbia University School of Law and obtained a master's degree in law and a diploma in comparative law from the American Law Society. Since July 2003, he has taught in the Law School of Wuhan University, served as the president of the Human Rights Research Institute of Wuhan University (National Human Rights Education and Training Base), and the chief expert of the core team of the International Institute of Rule of Law of Wuhan University (national high-end think tank).

Zhang Wanhong has been engaged in jurisprudence and human rights education research all his life. He is also the first member of the Human Rights Diplomatic Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the member of the Expert Advisory Committee on the Outline of the 14th Five Year Plan for China's Disabled Persons, the first expert member of the Expert Committee of the National Commission on Ageing, the standing director of the Council of the China Human Rights Research Association, and the standing director of the China Disabled Persons Cause Development Research Association, Director of the Rights and Interests Protection Professional Committee of China Disabled Persons' Cause Development Research Association, Vice President of Hubei Disabled Persons' Federation, Vice President of Hubei Disabled Persons' Cause Development Research Association, Associate Fellow of Harvard Law School, "Greater China Public Welfare Law Scholar" of Columbia University in the United States, and Senior Fellow of Netherlands China Legal Research Center of Amsterdam University in the Netherlands, Visiting researcher of Ritsumeikan University in Japan, visiting professor of China University of Political Science and Law, editorial board member of China Law and Social Review, Journal of Industry, Commerce and Human Rights and other journals, consultant of the Disabled Employment Project of the International Labour Organization, chief expert of the think tank forum of the high-level conference on disabled affairs under the framework of the "Belt and Road", and national consultant of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific on disability issues.

Zhang Wanhong has published more than 60 Chinese and English papers in important academic journals such as Law Review, Modern Law, People's Daily, Guangming Daily, etc., and many papers have been reprinted by China Social Sciences Digest, Xinhua Digest, etc. He has edited more than 10 academic works, including Handbook of Industry, Commerce and Human Rights, Research on Disability Rights, etc. He has presided over more than ten scientific research projects, including the late stage projects of the National Social Science Fund, major projects of the Ministry of Education's key research base for humanities and social sciences (the National Human Rights Education and Training Base), ministerial level scientific research projects of the Chinese Law Society, and projects entrusted by the State Council Information Office.

Zhang Wanhong is committed to studying human rights from a comprehensive perspective from the basic theory of law, and is one of the most visible and influential scholars in the field of specific group rights research. Professor Zhang Wanhong has participated in and led the transformation of the domestic disability research paradigm from a clear perspective of rights, advocated and promoted multidisciplinary research on the rights of specific groups, and systematically introduced China's practice and promotion of new concepts of human rights protection such as "rights based development" and "inclusive equality" and the great practice of international human rights standards, On this basis, we will further elucidate the dialectical relationship between human rights and development, and show the world the position, concept and achievements of China's human rights cause.

Professor Zhang Wanhong is actively engaged in the practical activities of human rights protection and rule of law construction, and provides advice and suggestions for the development of China's human rights cause. Presided over the preparation of Wuhan East Lake Public Welfare Service Center and other social organizations, took root in the community for a long time to focus on legal aid, community governance and other issues, and held many seminars, workshops, street consultations, household research and other activities on equal rights protection, social integration and development.

In 2017, as an independent expert, I drafted the combined second and third periodic reports of States parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities submitted by our government to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Deeply participated in the legislative work such as the Law on Accessible Environment Construction, the Regulations on the Employment of Disabled Persons, the Film Promotion Law, the Basic Medical Health and Health Promotion Law, and participated in the formulation and compilation of the national human rights action plan and the national white paper on human rights for many times.
