"Thanks to the procuratorate for supporting the prosecution and helping us protect our rights and get paid!" Early in the morning of March 14, Shu and several migrant workers arrived at the procuratorate of Wangjiang County and sent the banner with the words "Support prosecution and help safeguard our rights and bring warmth to justice" to the prosecutor.
From August to November 2021, Shu and other 9 migrant workers worked in the garment factory operated by Zhang. When settling salary, Mr. Zhang issued an IOU. Hou Shu and others repeatedly urged Zhang to pay his due remuneration. In July 2023, Shu and others filed a lawsuit with the court of Wangjiang County and applied to the procuratorial organ to support the prosecution when the recovery was fruitless.
After the Wangjiang County People's Procuratorate accepted the case, the case handling procurator immediately learned about the situation from Shu and the lawyer. After learning that Zhang is in Hefei and has always refused to answer the phone call whose number belongs to Anqing, the case prosecutor arranged the police to contact Zhang with an outside number. After many times of "online" communication, they explained and reasoned about Zhang, focusing on the legal responsibility for arrears of wages, and urged him to actively face and timely honor the labor remuneration of Shu and others. On July 21, 2023, the procuratorate of Wangjiang County issued a supporting opinion to the court of Wangjiang County, supporting migrant workers to recover their wages through legal proceedings. The court of Wangjiang County upheld the claims of 9 migrant workers.
At present, Mr. Zhang has cashed in part of the salary arrears, and the procuratorial organ will continue to track and supervise the implementation.
