[Safeguarding people's livelihood] Mengcheng, Bozhou: Jointly protect groundwater resources

In order to implement the deployment requirements of the Anhui Provincial Procuratorate on the groundwater resources protection project in northern Anhui, the Mengcheng County Procuratorate and the County Water Resources Bureau recently held a symposium on groundwater resources protection.
At the symposium, the Mengcheng County Procuratorate introduced the deployment of the Anhui Provincial Procuratorate to carry out the groundwater resources protection project in northern Anhui, the establishment of the groundwater resources protection big data supervision model, clue discovery, field investigation, and the preparation and issuance of procuratorial recommendations by the Mengcheng County Procuratorate. Mengcheng County Water Conservancy Bureau introduced the current situation of groundwater resources in the county, the work carried out after receiving the procuratorial suggestions, and the plan for the next step.
The two sides reached consensus on tackling the illegal exploitation of groundwater in bathing and car washing service sites by region, depth and stage, strengthening the joint force of justice and law enforcement in groundwater resource protection, and promoting groundwater resource protection in coordination.
Groundwater resources have important resource attributes and ecological functions. It is not only an important strategic reserve of water resources, but also plays an important role in ensuring urban and rural water supply, supporting economic and social development and maintaining a good ecological environment. The relevant person in charge of Mengcheng County Procuratorate said that he would give full play to the function of public interest litigation, actively cooperate with the County Water Resources Bureau, and jointly promote the protection of groundwater resources.
