In recent days, Yang Zhiyuan, a police officer of the Quanjiao County Procuratorate in Anhui Province, saved two young men who fell into the water during the flood control period, which was widely forwarded on the Internet, and netizens praised the hero for his bravery.

It happened on July 19 this year. At about 5:30 p.m. that day, Yang Zhiyuan was going to Xianghe River in Quanjiao County to check the water level. When he was walking to the pond near Yalongwan Community in Quanjiao County, he suddenly heard a lot of people shouting for help, saying that someone had fallen into the water. Come and help! Yang Zhiyuan looked back at the sound and saw two dark shadows in the center of the pond, one of which was still fighting for water. He rushed to the pond quickly, without taking off his clothes, and jumped into the water to rescue him.  

　 When Yang Zhiyuan swam to the location of the person who fell into the water, he found that there was only one person on the water, and the other person had already sunk. He easily fished in the water for several times, but did not encounter the drowning person, so he immediately dived into the water, grabbed the drowning person's hair, tried to lift him up and push him forward. But the drowning man was very heavy. When he felt that someone was coming to save him, he grabbed Yang Zhiyuan's arm. Although Yang Zhiyuan has good wateriness, he can't stand the weight of an adult male hanging on his arm, He had to drag the drowning man's hair, push and dive into the water at the same time, trying to use the buoyancy of the water to offset some weight. When Yang Zhiyuan reached half the distance from the shore, he was tired and panting. He felt that he could not move the push, and the drowning young man sank into the water again.

At this time, another young man who tried to help the rescue was also unstable, and there was a faint sign of drowning. Yang Zhiyuan kept his posture to ensure that he could catch the drowning person, while taking care of another rescuer. He shouted at him laboriously: "Don't panic, rest assured to me!" About four or five minutes later, the drowning person was pushed to the other side. With the help of a kind passer-by, the drowning man was dragged ashore and two young men were saved. Yang Zhiyuan controls the water for the drowning person. Seeing that neither of them is serious, he quietly leaves.

That night, the video of Yang Zhiyuan saving people taken by the onlookers on the scene was posted on the Internet, which moved the majority of netizens. Yang Zhiyuan said that after a few minutes of rescue, it felt like a few hours. Although he usually paid attention to exercise, he could swim for dozens of minutes or several kilometers normally, but he really tried his best in those few minutes and felt exhausted.

The drowning man rescued by Yang Zhiyuan is Li Tao, and his companion who tried to rescue him is Chen Mingchun. They are good friends, both from Chizhen, Quanjiao County. According to Chen Mingchun, because the water level of Xianghe River has soared due to torrential rains for several days, he saw many people fishing along the Xianghe River. Driven by curiosity, he bought fishing nets to fish in this pond, which unfortunately led to a drowning event. According to the author, the pond where Li Tao drowned is very large, and the water depth is more than 5 meters.

On the morning of July 23, Chen Mingchun took his mother, wife and children to the Quanjiao County Procuratorate to send the banner of "selfless rescue and boundless love" customized by Li Tao to Yang Zhiyuan, and also expressed his gratitude to him in person.  

Yang Zhiyuan, 53 years old, is a driver in the office of Quanjiao County Procuratorate. He has been diligent, dedicated and helpful for more than ten years. In an interview, he said that anyone with conscience would go to the rescue when encountering such things.
