On the morning of November 27, He Honghai, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Procurator General of the Procuratorate of Wuhu City, Anhui Province, informed the 25th Chairman Meeting of the 13th CPPCC Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference about the public interest litigation work of the procuratorial organs in the city. The meeting was presided over by Zhang Feng, Chairman of the CPPCC Wuhu Municipal Committee.

The participants first watched the promotional film of public interest litigation titled "Jointly Protect the Public Interest, Protect the Mother River" produced by the Wuhu Procuratorate.
   Later, He Honghai reported that In July 2015, since Wuhu, as a pilot unit of public interest litigation, took the lead in guarding the public interest, the procuratorial work of public interest litigation in Wuhu has been carried out, the results achieved, the main experience and practices, and the next steps.

The meeting considered that

The work of public interest litigation in Wuhu City has achieved good results, but there are also problems such as low awareness of the masses, less social participation, and imperfect coordination mechanism, which need to be constantly summarized and improved in practice.
   It is suggested to strengthen publicity, try to incorporate public interest litigation work into relevant training, and improve the social awareness of public interest litigation.
We should guide public interest organizations and other social subjects to participate in public interest litigation, and promote public interest litigation work requires coordination from all aspects and extensive support from the masses.

The establishment of the public interest litigation system by the procuratorial organ is an important exploration to improve the legal guarantee system of social fairness and justice and safeguard social public interests.

Since Wuhu Procuratorate initiated the pilot public interest litigation Focusing on the core of public welfare protection, highlighting key areas of concern to the public, such as environmental protection, food and medicine, and the safety of state-owned property, we have fully performed the function of public welfare litigation with remarkable achievements, which has been fully recognized by the CPPCC National Committee and the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

The CPPCC Municipal Committee should give full support to the work of the procuratorial organ and the public interest litigation, and hope that the procuratorial organ can absorb the suggestions of the CPPCC members in combination with the next step of work measures to achieve better results in the future public interest litigation work.
