On May 22, Defense Minister Dong Jun held talks with visiting Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Khalid Attiyah in Beijing.
Dong Jun said that China and Qatar are strategic partners. In recent years, President Xi Jinping and Emir Tamim have met for many times and reached a series of important consensus, which has provided fundamental guidance for deepening bilateral military relations. The relationship between the two militaries has a sound foundation and broad development space. The two sides should further enhance strategic mutual trust, expand cooperation areas, strengthen personnel exchanges, and constantly push the cooperation between the two militaries to a higher level.
Khalid said that a unified and prosperous China conforms to the common interests of the international community. The Kazakh side attaches great importance to the development of relations with China, and is willing to strengthen practical cooperation with China under the framework of the "Belt and Road" and other frameworks under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state to constantly improve the level of bilateral military relations.
Before the talks, Dong Jun held a welcome ceremony for Khalid and accompanied him to review the honor guard of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
