Triethyl ammonium acetate (TEAA) is an ion pair reagent. The ion pair reagent is both hydrophobic and positively charged, which can react with the negative charge of the phosphoric acid group on the main chain of nucleic acid, while the hydrophobic group of TEAA reacts with the hydrophobic group of the carbon-18 chain on the stationary phase.
