It is prohibited to damage the reputation of citizens and legal persons by insulting or slandering. If a citizen's right of name, portrait, reputation or honor has been infringed upon, he has the right to demand that the infringement be stopped, his reputation be restored, the effects be eliminated, an apology be made, and he may also demand compensation for losses. In addition, anyone who publicly insults another person or fabricates facts to slander another person by violence or other means, if the circumstances are serious, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention, public surveillance or deprivation of political rights.
