At present, there is no unified national regulation on funeral expenses and pensions for civil servants.
In case of death due to illness or non work related causes, the survivors may receive funeral subsidies and survivors' pensions. Funeral subsidies and survivors' pensions are also part of the old-age insurance benefits enjoyed by employees.
(1) Funeral subsidy is the subsidy for employees to bury and deal with the afterlife after their death. At present, there is no unified standard nationwide. According to some local regulations, funeral subsidies are generally calculated and paid according to a certain number of months of the average monthly salary of local employees at the time of death. For example, in Dalian, funeral subsidies are the average social salary of three months of the previous year in the city.
(2) The survivors' pension is the economic compensation and spiritual comfort given to the family members after the death of the employees. The provisions of survivors' pensions vary from place to place. Some do not stipulate pensions, but only provide for monthly relief payments for survivors. Some provide for a one-time pension, and also provide for monthly living subsidies for survivors. For example, Dalian, in addition to the one-time relief payments for direct relatives according to the social average wage of 10 months in the previous year, The support of immediate family members can also receive family relief according to the sum of the local subsistence allowance standard and price subsidy.
