Thailand container port. It is located on the east bank of Bangkok Bay in the central part of the country, southeast of Bangkok City. Outside the port, the sea route is about 5 nautical miles to the north from Lacha Port, about 60 nautical miles to Bangkok Port, about 50 nautical miles to the south from Sotauyi Port, 376 nautical miles to Songka Port, 791 nautical miles to Singapore Port, and about 1450 nautical miles to Hong Kong in the northeast; At the rear, there is Bangkok Nongman International Airport. The port was originally the container transit port area of Bangkok Port. The Chao Phraya River waterway at Bangkok Port is tortuous, and the water depth is insufficient. It is difficult for container ships with a length of more than 173 meters to enter the port. With the increasing container handling capacity of Bangkok Port, and to meet the needs of larger container ships coming to Bangkok, the port began to invest 2.03 billion baht at the end of 1987 to establish a container transit port area here. There are three container loading and unloading berths, each 300 meters long and 14 meters deep, with an annual handling capacity of 600000 TEUs, which can stop at the 3rd and 4th generation container ship terminals and put them into use. At the same time, there is also a multi-purpose berth, and two bulk grain berths and one coastal berth are planned to be built. There is Xichang Island outside the port to block the wind and waves, and the natural conditions are superior. In February 1992, the Thai government decided to approve the port area to become an independent port, becoming the first international container loading and unloading port in Thailand. With the establishment of this professional container port, it will undoubtedly greatly promote the development of container transportation in Thailand and the further development of the port's own terminal handling equipment. The port is almost connected to Lacha Port in the north.
