Introduction to School of Earth Sciences, Chengdu University of Technology
The School of Earth Sciences of Chengdu University of Technology is one of the backbone colleges with the longest history, which has a glorious history of nearly 100 years. Its predecessor is the Department of Geology of Chongqing University, which was founded in 1929. In 1956, based on the Department of Geology of Chongqing University, the Department of Geological Survey and Prospecting of Chengdu Institute of Geological Exploration was established by integrating some teachers and students from Beijing Institute of Geology, Changchun Institute of Geology, Department of Geology of Northwest University, Department of Geology of Nanjing University, etc. It is one of the oldest backbone departments of Chengdu Institute of Geological Exploration. The late famous geologists Li Tangbi, Li Chengsan, Chang Longqing, Liu Zuyi, Wu Yansheng, Li Zhichang, Zhou Xiaohe, Ding Yi, Hu Chongyao, Zhang Yansen, Bian Zhaoxiang, etc. were the academic leaders of the Department during its founding period. In 1983, the Department of Geology and the Department of Geology and Mineral Exploration were established (renamed the Department of Resources and Economics in December 1993, referred to as the Department of Resources and Economics for short). The Earth Science Institute was established in 2002. After more than 80 years of development, it has become a teaching and research base with the most complete categories and strong strength of geoscience disciplines in western China. one
