At the beginning of the epidemic in 2020, the Foreign Affairs Office of Hengyang Municipal Party Committee carried out a visit and condolences activity for foreigners in Hengyang. The Foreign Affairs Office of Hengyang County sent masks, medicines, rice, oil and other daily necessities to Liu Dafu's family, and forged a deep friendship with Liu Dafu at that time.

Eleven years ago, Liu Dafu accompanied his wife Jiang Lin to settle down in Xidu Town, Hengyang County, her hometown, and became a real son-in-law of Hengyang.

In the summer of 2021, the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee held an online English short video contest. Under the careful organization and planning of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Hengyang Municipal Committee, the short video "My Home is My Peace" created from the perspective of the family life of the Liu Dafu family won the first prize of the Foreign Friends Group and the best popularity award.

"The development of Xidu is like a growing mushroom. I have always been happy about the new development here. For me, Xidu is a perfect place to live in China," Liu Dafu said in the video. "After reading it, my family and friends all said that the innovative vitality and open attitude here made them yearn for and want to come."

In order to better study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, tell good Chinese stories, spread the Chinese voice, and show a credible, lovely and respectable image of China, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Municipal Party Committee led the organization of a series of activities themed "foreigners in Hengyang walked into the red pavilion", and organized foreign friends in many counties to visit the former residence of the martyrs, watch red micro films, and listen to micro party lessons. Liu Dafu's son, Binbin, put on his red scarf, faced the statue of Xia Minghan and said proudly, "I am Xia Minghan's' successor 'and a member of the glorious Chinese Young Pioneers."

During the Spring Festival of 2022, the Liu Dafu family spent a different New Year in China. The staff of the Foreign Affairs Office brought them Chinese New Year goods, and everyone posted couplets and hung lanterns to celebrate the arrival of the new year. Under the guidance of his wife Jiang Lin, Liu Dafu also learned how to make dumplings and felt the strong traditional flavor of Chinese New Year.

During a visit, the Foreign Affairs Office learned that the transfer of children was not smooth because they did not understand the local transfer procedures and policies, plus the reasons of Binbin dual nationality. Under the purpose of "handling special affairs and serving the people", through the communication and coordination between the Foreign Affairs Office and the Education Bureau and the school, we successfully handled the transfer procedures for Binbin last September and continued to pay attention to his studies.

Recently, according to Liu Dafu's professional expertise in diamond cutting, the Foreign Affairs Office of the County Party Committee is looking for a job for him, and has contacted many enterprises.

"I have adapted to the local rhythm in all aspects of my life, such as clothing, food, housing and transportation. This is my second hometown." Liu Dafu's face is filled with a happy smile. He said that he would work hard to learn Chinese and continue to take root in Hengyang.
