France is currently ranked 19th in the world and is a relatively weak team in Group A.

The women's volleyball team of the Paris Olympic Games adopts a round robin competition system, with the top two of the three teams and the best two third places going through to the knockout stage. In the knockout stage, two teams will be ranked according to the results of the group competition.
