China news agency, Beijing, May 9 (Xinhua News Agency of Northern Macedonia) reported on the 9th local time that 95% of the votes in the second round of the country's presidential election had been counted, and Davkova, elected by the main opposition party, the Macedonian internal revolutionary organization, the National Unity Democratic Party, won the second round of the presidential election with 65.03% of the votes.


According to the report, the current president of the ruling party, the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia, Peddarovski, won 29.3% of the votes.

According to Reuters, Davkova will become the first female president of Northern Macedonia. After learning the election results, she said in an interview that winning the presidential election is priceless for her and means great responsibility.

Reuters said that the opposition party led by Ms. Davkova may form a coalition with other parties to win the majority of parliamentary seats.

Northern Macedonia held parliamentary and second round of presidential elections on the 8th, and more than 1700 candidates competed for 120 of the 123 parliamentary seats. In the first round of presidential elections held on April 24, Davkova and Pendarowski obtained 41.2% and 20.5% of the votes respectively, ranking first and second. According to the Constitution of Northern Macedonia, if no candidate obtains more than half of the votes in the first round of elections, the candidates with the top two votes will enter the second round of elections.
