This is Liang Zuying, a woman from Wuying Miao Village (photographed on April 25, 2023).

Liang Zuying, a 48 year old Miao woman, is a villager of Wuying Miao Village, Gandong Township, Rongshui Miao Autonomous County, Liuzhou, Guangxi. As a child, influenced by the local concept of "son preference", Liang Zuying, who wanted to study very much, could only do farm work at home. In the first 40 years of her life, she could neither speak Mandarin nor read. The farthest place she visited was the town fair.

Since 2017, she has tried to plant Passion Fruit, Peach Tree, Sweet Potato and so on. Due to lack of culture, she cannot communicate with the outside world, and the industrial development is not smooth.

From March 2020, with the support of the local United Front Work Department, the Women's Federation and other departments, as well as Lianjiang City, Guangdong Province, which helps in pairs, Wuying Miao Village has long held "I teach my mother to speak Mandarin" and "bilingual two-way" training classes. Liang Zuying entered the night school class and became a "big" student, fulfilling her dream of reading.

Over the past four years, more than 1000 sessions of the training class have been held, and Liang Zuying has almost never missed classes. She was the most diligent person in the class and was elected monitor. In 2021, she was also elected the chairman of Wuying Miao Village Women's Federation.

Liang Zuying said, "Before, I didn't know how to read and communicate. When I saw outsiders coming, I had to take a detour, let alone go to the county seat. Now we can go farther, make more friends and do more things."

Women get along day and night to learn together, and they have established deep sisterhood and friendship with each other. We learn knowledge and culture together, inherit intangible cultural heritage, develop rural industries, and support "half the sky" on the road to rural revitalization. In 2022, Liang Zuying was awarded the title of "Most Beautiful Cadre of Grass roots Women's Federation" in Guangxi.
