5730000 yuan has become 57.3 billion yuan, "square" has been written as "bungalow", "chief and arrested" is actually "handwritten remarks"... A judgment circulated a few days ago has more than 100 errors. On March 26, the Zhuji People's Court involved in the matter replied that "the posts reflect the problem of literal errors is true" and has started the accountability procedure.
Of the 110 errors in the 311 page judgment, there are errors such as "square" written into "bungalow" that will not affect the direction of the case, and there are also errors in key parts, such as about 85 errors involving the names of enterprises, parties, and witnesses' testimony. The contents recorded in the judgment are not consistent with the original content of the evidence. There are about 7 such errors. When the defender issued the cross examination opinion, he found that the loan amount was a "ten thousand" word out of thin air, and the amount involved in the case was ten thousand times the difference of a word, so his mood must be like riding a roller coaster. After the adjournment, the relatives of the parties and their agents carried out the verification work that should have been completed by the court, which not only affected the normal progress of the case, but also dispelled the judicial authority. These contents are related to the vital interests of the parties, and can never be evaded by a "word error".
It is still "full of holes" under the check, which makes people think deeply. Over the years, there have been many examples of netizens watching the judgment documents due to low-level mistakes. There are seven mistakes in the more than 300 word execution of the judgment documents, including those who ask the defendant to compensate himself, and those who "father is two years older than son". In this regard, there are always people who say that there are too many cases and too few people in the court, and their energy is poor: "Today, courts around the world are facing the dilemma of too many cases and too little pressure... A judgment document has a few pages, dozens or even hundreds of pages, which is as thick as a book, and the judge is exhausted after writing", so "it is understandable that some wrong words cannot be seen".
Objectively speaking, it is a fact that the court is under great pressure to handle cases. According to the data of the Supreme People's Court, the number of cases handled by judges per capita increased from 65.1 in 2013 to 238 in 2021. In 2022, the number of cases handled by judges per capita in the courts across the country was 242, and in 2023 356.51. The relevant person in charge of the Supreme People's Court said that in some places, "the contradiction between more cases and fewer people is increasingly prominent". On the one hand, we should face up to and try our best to solve this practical contradiction. On the other hand, we should also see that "quantity" and "quality" are not contradictory. Improving the quality of handling cases is to improve the efficiency of handling cases.
Take this as an example. The court involved omitted or failed to do a good job in the judgment in the early stage, but it still needs to make up for it in the later stage. It made mistakes and lost its reputation, which is its own processing work. Many insiders and scholars mentioned that the referee must strive for perfection, not only to avoid low-level errors, but also to fully reason, so that "insiders can see through, laymen can see clearly", to avoid unnecessary trouble.
Avoiding clerical errors is only a bottom line requirement for referee documents. Relevant units must not be penny wise and pound foolish.
