This year's No. 16 tropical storm "Yutu" stopped numbering

The 16th tropical storm of this year, "Yutu" (name source: China, name meaning: mythical rabbit), was generated on the ocean near the international date change line on September 1. Only one day later, the "Jade Rabbit" has weakened and degenerated into an extratropical cyclone, and the Central Meteorological Station stopped numbering it at 14:00 on September 2.

  • At present, 14 members of the Typhoon Committee each provide 10 names for typhoons in the northwest Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea. The actual naming work is entrusted to the Japan Meteorological Agency (Tokyo Regional Specialized Meteorological Center) in the region.
