    OLEDoS research achievements for LG Display VR were selected into the 2024 SID International Display Zhou Jiechu's paper

    On May 13, LG Display announced that its research paper on new technology of OLEDoS (OLED On Silicon) for VR was rated as "Distinguished Paper" on The Society for Information Display (SID), a global authoritative display society.

    SID brings together relevant enterprises and research experts in the global display industry to present new products and technologies while publishing research papers. Of the more than 500 papers submitted by global display technology experts each year, SID only awards outstanding papers for the top 5% of papers with innovative research achievements.

    LG Display research team introduced the research results of OLEDoS technology in improving display performance, so it was selected as an outstanding paper.

    OLEDoS is a technology for depositing OLEDs on silicon wafers for semiconductor production, which can be used to present ultra-high image quality on small screens. Therefore, its application in display products of AR/VR devices has attracted much attention. Compared with ordinary display products, in order to improve the user's immersion experience when the external light is blocked, the VR device display screen needs to have higher picture brightness and resolution.

    The LG Display research team has combined the self-developed OLED light maximization release technology MLA (Micro Lens Array) on the newly developed high-performance OLED components, and successfully increased the picture brightness by about 40% to 10000 nits. High performance OLEDoS technology is applied to VR devices to bring users a real and vivid virtual reality experience.

    In addition, on this year's SID International Display Week, LG Display will also publish a total of 15 prospective research papers in the field of next-generation display. These include the light field display (LFD) stereoscopic enhancement technology related to the naked eye 3D theme, the measurement method of the tensile properties of the scalable display with elasticity in the upper, lower, left and right sides of the screen, and the research results of the optimized production process covering AI functions such as the design of high-efficiency OLED light-emitting elements and the prediction system of adverse possibilities.

    Yin Zhurong, vice president of LG Display and CTO, said: "Through the development of next-generation display technology that presents ultra-high brightness and ultra-high resolution, LG Display continues to provide customers with differentiated value while constantly strengthening its technological competitiveness."
