According to a report on People's Daily Online on May 13, 2024 college graduates have entered the stage of thesis defense in succession. Many colleges and universities have issued a notice specifying that they will test the proportion of AI generated content in graduation designs (papers) and regulate the proportion of AI generation in papers.
This is not the first time that relevant colleges and universities have issued such a notice to strictly restrict the content of AI generated papers, which is highly targeted. At present, the AI content generation technology is becoming more and more perfect, and many AI ghostwriting content has been "hard to recognize" by the naked eye. In this context, graduation theses that test the learning effect and research results of graduates should unify the evaluation criteria and strictly restrict the content generated by artificial intelligence. On the one hand, it is unfair for students who complete independent research and writing. On the other hand, using AI for work does not conform to the original intention of developing AI technology. In extreme cases, it may even be another kind of academic misconduct. The establishment of rules and clear requirements by colleges and universities is the regulation of such phenomena, but also the adherence and appeal to academic integrity - we should actively embrace new technologies and use artificial intelligence to assist curriculum learning, but in any case, we should not lose the soul of universities in cultivating innovative ideas.
