Introduction to Shangqiu

Overview Shangqiu, one of the birthplaces of the Chinese nation, has a long history, many places of interest and rich resources. In 1986, it was named as a national historic and cultural city by the State Council, in 1989, it was identified as a city open to the outside world by the state, in 1991, it was listed as a special experimental zone by the provincial party committee and the provincial government and one of the three major economic and technological development zones in Henan Province, in 1992, it was identified as a national circulation system reform experimental zone by the State Council, and in 1998, it was identified as a national comprehensive reform pilot city by the State Council. Shangqiu is located in the east of Henan Province, on the Huanghuai Plain in the southwest of the North China Plain. It is adjacent to Kaifeng and Zhoukou in the southeast, and faces Shandong across the old Yellow River in the north. With an area of 10557 square kilometers and a population of 7.6 million, it has jurisdiction over 2 districts, 1 city and 6 counties, 198 townships (towns) and 4498 administrative villages.      &nb
