In the movie "The Climber" released in 2019, the prototype of the climber Li Guoliang is martyr Wu Zongyue, an alumnus of Chengdu University of Technology. According to the WeChat official account of Chengdu University of Technology, Wu Zongyue (1933-1975), a native of Yunyang, Chongqing, graduated from the school in 1960. From March to May 1975, he led the Chinese mountaineering team to climb Mount Everest. When they reached an altitude of 8500 meters in the fourth adaptive march, they fell down and died bravely at the age of 42. When he first climbed to the top of Mount Everest, Wu Zongyue collected rock samples of two mica granite at more than 8000 meters above Mount Everest, which are still stored in the Museum of Chengdu University of Technology.
