The Ministry of Water Resources recently announced the list of 55 pilot counties for the first batch of water system connectivity and comprehensive rural water system improvement. Chongzhou City, Longchang City and Miyi County of our province were selected, which is one of the provinces with the most counties (cities, districts) shortlisted this time.
In October 2019, the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Finance jointly launched the pilot work of water system connectivity and comprehensive improvement of rural water systems. The central finance gave appropriate support in the form of building first and then supplementing, and combining rewards and subsidies. The implementation period is 2020-2021. This year is the first year of the construction of pilot counties. The pilot work takes the county as a unit to plan the overall governance, highlight the system governance, and solve the prominent problems of siltation and shrinkage, serious water pollution, water ecological deterioration and other problems in rural water systems, restore the functions of rivers and lakes, and improve the living environment through systematic governance measures such as river and lake barrier removal, dredging, ecological slope protection, water conservation, water system connectivity, pollution source control, river and lake management, etc, Create a group of county level comprehensive water control models with different characteristics and strong demonstration and guidance.
In the next step, the Provincial Water Resources Department will guide the three pilot counties (cities) to modify and improve the implementation plan, urge the completion of the implementation plan approval as soon as possible, accelerate the project commencement and construction management and other work, and ensure the completion of the annual construction tasks.
