The 10th World Water Forum was held in Bali, Indonesia, from 18th to 25th. During the forum, the Chinese delegation introduced the concept and practice of water control in China in detail at several meetings, which was widely praised by the officials, experts, scholars and international organizations.
Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimurzono said that China's successful practices and important cases of water control have contributed Chinese wisdom and Chinese programs to the world, and demonstrated China's commitment to global water security, water prosperity, and to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Abdulaziz Shebani, Deputy Minister of Water Resources of the Ministry of Environment, Water Resources and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia, said that China is a country full of philosophical wisdom, and he believed that Saudi Arabia would certainly learn from China's wisdom in water control. Many countries have been working hard to solve flood disasters in the past decades, and solving flood disasters is a new problem for Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia very much hopes to respond to flood risks comprehensively and systematically in the right way and method.
Li Lifeng, Director of the Department of Land and Water Resources of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), said: "I think China has done a very good job in coordinated water control. For example, the cross sectoral coordination mechanism for flood control and drought relief can use the scarce water resources to support sustainable development of agriculture and socio-economic development, which is very exciting." He said, China has achieved the improvement of water resources management level, the restoration and improvement of water ecology and water environment. China's water control ideas are welcomed by all countries. "China's experience is that starting from the ecosystem, from water conservation, water storage to flood management, there is a very good series of ideas and methods that can be shared with other countries."
Philippe Gulbersville, a professor of France's Nis Sophia Institute of Technology and a distinguished professor of China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Sciences, has worked and lived in China for more than 20 years, and has witnessed China's achievements in water control. He said that in the past two decades, China's water supply service for all has been greatly improved, and people in many remote rural areas no longer face the dilemma of clean water and sanitation facilities. In addition, China is very active in international organizations and UN projects, especially in supporting the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, including the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) related to water resources. China has actively participated in many international initiatives related to climate, water and government work, making important contributions to international water governance.
Pablo Walwad, Deputy CEO of the International Hydropower Association, said that the concept of "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains" is very consistent with the ethics and principles of current water resources management. This concept emphasizes that protecting the ecological environment is not only the respect and maintenance of nature, but also the basis and premise for achieving sustainable development.
