On the morning of the 27th, Wu Ruoyu, a Taiwan compatriot, took the tractor driver test in Pingtan, the first Taiwan compatriot to take the mainland tractor driver test.

At 9:00 a.m., Ruoyu Wu entered the exam, took 45 minutes to complete the exam on the computer, scored 91 points, and successfully passed the Tractor Driver Subject 1 exam.

Subsequently, the staff of the Agricultural and Rural Bureau of the experimental area arranged tractor practice exercises.

Turn the key to start the tractor, observe the indicator light and tachometer on the dashboard, then shift into gear and control the accelerator... In a farmland in Kunhu Village, Junshan District, Wu Ruoyu is practicing the tractor. Although the operation is a little rusty, it is still going on in an orderly manner.

"I think there is great potential for agriculture in the mainland," Wu Ruoyu said. When talking about the reasons for taking the tractor driver exam, Wu Ruoyu said that she had worked in Pingtan for seven years. As a science and technology commissioner, she has been serving the agricultural development of Pingtan, and is also actively exploring cross-strait agricultural cooperation. Knowing that Taiwan compatriots can also take the tractor driver test in Pingtan, Wu Ruoyu immediately signed up. She said that she hoped to obtain the certificate as soon as possible and contribute to the agricultural development of both sides.

As the nearest place between the mainland and Taiwan, Pingtan and Taiwan have similar climate conditions, and their agriculture and fishery are highly complementary. In recent years, the integration of agriculture and fishery in the experimental area with Taiwan has maintained a good momentum, and has become a new hot spot for Taiwanese agricultural investment. Since 2019, the number of Taiwan related agricultural enterprises in Pingtan has grown from 12 to 52. Since 2020, 137 new varieties of Taiwan fruits and vegetables have been introduced.

According to the staff of the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the experimental area, Taiwan compatriots in Pingtan enjoy the same standard as their mainland compatriots when they take the tractor driver exam. Pingtan will continue to facilitate Taiwan compatriots to take the exam. "It is hoped that Taiwan compatriots engaged in agriculture related work in Lan can actively register for the tractor driver exam to further improve the agricultural production skills in the experimental area," said Cai Zongxin, head of the agricultural department of the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in the experimental area.
