Rapeseed oil is one of the main edible oils in China, and the breeding of new rape varieties required for the production of rapeseed oil is of great significance for ensuring supply and stable price in China's grain and oil market. In recent years, the "Qingyou Series" rape varieties bred by Huang Taocui team of Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Sciences have achieved a breakthrough in breeding for ultra-high oil content on the basis of high quality and high yield. In 2016, the super high oil content variety "Qingyou No.3" bred by Huang Taocui's team was born, with an oil content of 49.96%, which achieved a leap from "three bowls of rapeseed to one bowl of oil" to "two bowls of rapeseed to one bowl of oil". In 2019, Huang Taocui's team developed the "Qingyou 8", which further increased the oil content of rapeseed to 51.54%, again leading the country.
