Ningxia Meteorological Administration is a subordinate unit of the China Meteorological Administration and the competent meteorological department of the People's Government of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. In 1958, after years of construction and development, especially since the reform and opening up, the development of the meteorological cause has reached a certain scale, and the meteorological service work is playing an increasingly important role in the economic and social development of Ningxia. Over the years, Ningxia Meteorological Administration has been named "Civilized System" and "Civilized Industry" by the China Meteorological Administration and the Party Committee and the government of the autonomous region, and has been awarded the titles of "National Advanced Unit in Spiritual Civilization Construction" and "Civilized Unit Model in the autonomous region" by the Central Civilized Commission and the Party Committee and the government of the autonomous region.

There are five municipal meteorological bureaus in Yinchuan, Shizuishan, Wuzhong, Guyuan and Zhongwei, and 27 county (city, district) meteorological bureaus (stations). There are more than 700 on-the-job cadres and staff in the meteorological department of the whole region, including 2 doctors, 20 masters and more than 200 undergraduates. There are more than 60 persons with senior professional title qualifications (four persons in the highest position).

◆ Main responsibilities:
1. Formulate local meteorological development plans and plans, and be responsible for the organization and implementation of meteorological development plans and plans and meteorological business construction within their respective administrative regions; To be responsible for the examination of construction projects of important meteorological facilities in their respective administrative areas; To guide, supervise and administer meteorological activities in their respective administrative areas.
2. Examine and approve the adjustment plan of meteorological stations according to their responsibilities and authorities; To organize the collection and distribution of meteorological observation data within their respective administrative areas; Protect the environment for meteorological observation according to law; To administer foreign-related meteorological activities in their respective administrative areas.
3. To organize the joint monitoring and forecasting of major disastrous weather across regions and departments within their respective administrative regions, to put forward measures for the prevention of meteorological disasters in a timely manner, and to assess major meteorological disasters, so as to provide the people's governments at the corresponding levels with decision-making basis for organizing the prevention of meteorological disasters; To administer the issuance of public meteorological forecast, disastrous weather warning, agricultural meteorological forecast, urban environmental meteorological forecast, fire danger meteorological grade forecast and other professional meteorological forecast within their respective administrative areas.
4. Formulate weather modification operation scheme, and manage, guide and organize the implementation of weather modification operation under the leadership and coordination of the people's government at the same level; Organize and manage the lightning disaster prevention work, and guide the detection of lightning disaster protection devices installed on buildings, structures and other facilities that may be attacked together with relevant departments.
5. Be responsible for putting forward suggestions to the people's government at the same level and relevant departments at the same level on the use and protection of climate resources and the promotion and application of climate resource zoning and other achievements; Organize climate feasibility demonstration for climate resource development and utilization projects.
6. Organize the publicity and education of the meteorological legal system, supervise the implementation of relevant meteorological laws and regulations, punish the acts violating the relevant provisions of the Meteorological Law of the People's Republic of China according to law, and undertake relevant administrative reconsideration and administrative litigation.
7. To uniformly lead and manage the planned finance, organization establishment, personnel, labor, scientific research, training and business construction of the meteorological departments within their respective administrative regions; Assist the local party committee and the people's government in the spiritual civilization construction and ideological and political work of the local meteorological department.
8. Undertake other tasks assigned by the China Meteorological Administration and the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
