Ningbo has a long history. As early as 7000 years ago, the ancestors multiplied here and created a splendid Hemudu culture. In the Spring and Autumn Period, it was the territory of the State of Yue, and after the mid Warring States Period, it was under the jurisdiction of the State of Chu.In 222 BC, the Qin Dynasty determined that there were three counties in the south of the Yangtze River, namely Yin, Mao and Juzhang, which belonged to Kuaiji Prefecture.During the Han Dynasty, the Three Kingdoms, and the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, except for the name of the state, country, and county to which the three counties belonged, their regional scope remained basically unchanged. In the ninth year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty, three counties were merged with Yao, which was called Juzhang County. The county was governed by Xiaoxi (Yinjiang Town of Yinxian County today), still belonging to Kuaiji Prefecture. In the fourth year of Tang Wude (621), it was renamed Yinzhou and set up a prefecture at Sanjiangkou (now the old city of Ningbo); In the eighth year of Wude (625), it was renamed Mao County, belonging to Yuezhou, and the county government restored a stream. In the 26th year of Kaiyuan's reign in the Tang Dynasty (738), Mingzhou was established, which governs four counties, namely Mao, Cixi, Fenghua and Wengshan
