In fact, the turn of high-speed train is completed by turnout device. The turnout device is like a "splitter" in the process of train running, which divides the track into two parts to provide the forward direction for locomotives and vehicles. The switch rail plays a key role.

Just as its name implies, the switch rail is a rail with a sharp angle at the top. According to different processing technologies, it forms two parts: the tip and the heel. In the straight running state, the switch rail fits the straight track; When it is necessary to turn, it fits the lateral track. When the train starts to turn, the driver controls the train speed, sees the signal and confirms the voucher after the station attendant operates the computer interlocking equipment to sort the tracks.

When the tip fits the standard rail, the wheels of the vehicle will be introduced into the predetermined track. However, the raw material used for making switch rail is special section (AT) rail, which is more stable in structure and can bear more weight. In order to improve its structural strength, the AT rail adopts the design of "short, thick and fat".

During the forming process, the tip part of the switch rail is milled by one cutter of the gantry milling machine, while the heel part is forged by a 5000t vertical hydraulic press. The whole process is carried out under the joint action of the press and the die. With the popularization of fully automated rail forging equipment, the production efficiency of switch rail has been significantly improved, and only two workers can complete the on-site operation.

In a word, factors such as vehicle safety, stability and reliability have been fully considered in the design and manufacturing process, so that high-speed trains can operate stably at high speed and achieve precise turning and other functions.
