Promote international cooperation in disaster prevention and mitigation

The World Meteorological Center (WMC) is the global core meteorological forecasting and forecasting business organization recognized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). In May 2017, the 69th meeting of the Executive Council of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) identified the China Meteorological Administration as the World Meteorological Center (WMC), namely the World Meteorological Center (Beijing), and the only WMC in developing countries among the world's 10 WMCs.

"This reflects China's leading and backbone role in the world meteorological operational organization, technical exchange and other aspects, and further highlights China's visibility, international influence and international contribution on the world meteorological stage," the relevant head of the China Meteorological Administration told reporters.

In the same year, Bounteum Sysouphanthavong, head of the Weather Forecast and Early Warning Division of the Lao Bureau of Meteorology and Hydrology, also sent a letter to thank the World Meteorological Center (Beijing) for providing forecast products for the customized interactive website specially established by Laos, mainly including the GRAPES-GFS global model Global intelligent grid forecasting and wind cloud meteorological satellite cloud images.

Promote international cooperation in disaster prevention and mitigation, provide relevant meteorological services for countries along the "Belt and Road", and carry out international training and business exchanges... In fact, these roles are mainly realized by the operational capacity building of China's meteorological global monitoring, global forecasting, and global services, which is also an important part of this exhibition.

Data shows that at present, China has formed a complete space space integrated meteorological observation system, has the world's largest meteorological radar detection network, and the meteorological satellites are at the world's advanced level as a whole. 9 Fengyun meteorological satellites are in orbit, providing satellite data and product services free of charge to 118 countries and regions around the world.

In terms of forecasting, China has established an autonomous, controllable and available GRAPES numerical weather forecasting operational technology system, with a global forecast resolution of 25 kilometers and a national forecast resolution of 3 kilometers. The global numerical prediction model has an available prediction time of 7.7 days, gradually entering the world's advanced ranks.

Powerful support for major national strategies

Entering the exhibition area, after the prominent logo of "World Meteorological Center (Beijing) - for global monitoring, global forecasting and global services", the public will see the contents of global monitoring, global forecasting, global services and global meteorological information sharing introduced in four regions through video animation, system demonstration, physical objects, models, VR interactive experience and other forms.

In the global monitoring area, the monitoring animation of the "Belt and Road Star" FY-2H satellite came into sight.

According to reports, in 2018, at the request of the World Meteorological Organization and the Asia Pacific Space Cooperation Organization, the fixed position of Fengyun 2H satellite will be changed from 86.5 degrees east longitude to 79 degrees east longitude, so that China's Fengyun series geostationary orbit meteorological satellites can effectively cover the whole territory of China, countries along the "Belt and Road", the Indian Ocean and most African countries.

China has also established and improved the disaster prevention and mitigation mechanism for international users of Fengyun meteorological satellites, including the existing Fengyun meteorological satellites into the on duty satellites of the safeguard mechanism, and provided emergency services to more than 20 countries, such as Mozambique and Laos. With unremitting efforts, the number of international users has increased significantly, and the benefits of international applications have been remarkable, which has been highly praised by the international community.

The GEOVIS meteorological digital earth independently developed by meteorological enterprises has also attracted the audience's attention.

According to the staff, it is the main content of global meteorological information sharing, integrating rich space space integrated observation data, providing technology development and information services for the needs of weather forecasting and early warning, and providing global meteorological products for society, enterprises and the public. The theme of this year's trade fair is digital opening future services to promote development. Facing the future, the digital earth will also have a greater role in it.

At the booth, there is another place that attracts a large number of visitors - the digital weather service guarantee system for the Beijing Winter Olympics. In fact, the schedule, event holding, watching, rescue and transportation of the Winter Olympics mountain snow events are closely related to the meteorological conditions, which is also a comprehensive test of China's meteorological ability.

In the fields of meteorological monitoring, meteorological information network, forecasting technology and smart weather, the meteorological department has carried out key research, established a three-dimensional, second level and multi factor observation system, developed a hundred meter and minute level forecasting technology, and built intelligent and convenient meteorological services. The progress of meteorological science and technology strongly supports the implementation of major national strategies.

Social observation promotes the establishment of public-private partnerships

"Phased array weather radar", "micro weather station", "wearable multi-function pocket meteorological instrument"... In the exhibition area, all kinds of meteorological instruments can be seen everywhere. What are the functions of these seemingly tall instruments?

"These various instruments are developed by meteorological enterprises, which not only provide a wealth of refined forecasting solutions for promoting social observation, but also play an important role in promoting high-quality development of the meteorological cause," the staff said.

"For example, this phased array weather radar is a key force for monitoring and forecasting tornado, hail, strong wind, short-term heavy rainfall and other sudden and small-scale severe convective weather in large cities." This radar is characterized by narrow beam, high resolution, and dual line polarization, which fills the short board for monitoring medium and small scale disastrous severe convective weather, It provides a strong guarantee for the protection of public life safety.

Another example is the 7-element micro meteorological station with sky images based on the Internet of Things architecture, which supports cloud weather phenomenon recognition and local weather prediction models, and is widely used in smart city, social observation and other scenes in China. The weather data collected in real time were collected and remitted to the National Meteorological Information Center in compliance with the regulations, which enriched the big data of social meteorological observation.

At the same time, many private meteorological instruments of civilian products in the exhibition area also enrich and protect the public's life.

The wearable multi-function pocket weather meter is very powerful. For example, if you carry it with you like a mobile phone, you can monitor the temperature, humidity, wind, pressure and other data in real time, retrieve the cloudy, sunny, rainy and snow according to the local pressure change rate in three hours, make weather forecast, and output human comfort according to the temperature, humidity, pressure, wind variables and SSD model.

This wearable weather meter is widely used. "In areas where it is not easy to build meteorological stations, such as mountain torrents and debris flows, forest fires, geological disasters, and leakage of dangerous chemicals, it can be used in emergency support with its advantages of convenience, speed and portability."

It can also be applied to sports events that need real-time weather data, such as golf, canoeing, sailing, and triathlon, or outdoor sports, such as rock climbing, river tracing, mountain climbing, camping, and skydiving, to help participants master the weather data in real time and take corresponding measures.
