Continue to fight in the front line of flood fighting and disaster relief. Head nurse Zhou Wuhong rushes from one patrol point to another, sleeping on the floor when sleepy, and eating a few mouthfuls of bread when hungry. The colleague of the medical team said that the head nurse seemed to be made of iron, and the rest time was very little every day, but it seemed to be inexhaustible.

"It's important to treat patients," said Zhou Wuhong, whose eyes were full of red blood.

Half a month ago, under the influence of typhoon "Dousuri", continuous heavy rainfall caused the water level of the rivers in Mentougou District and Fangshan District of Beijing to rise sharply, causing floods and geological disasters. The 984 Hospital of the Joint Service Support Force, according to the order of the superior, immediately organized a medical team to rush to Mentougou District, Beijing, where the disaster was serious, to carry out medical rescue work.

Zhou Wuhong, head nurse of the outpatient department of the hospital, immediately packed up her bags after receiving the notice of "returning to the hospital quickly for standby and preparing for rescue and disaster relief", explained a few words to her children and parents in law, and rushed to the hospital to assemble. The medical team was ordered to go to the war. The hospital organized a simple and solemn ceremony for everyone. The medical team went directly to Wangping Town, Mentougou District, Beijing, which was seriously affected by the disaster.

Along the way, the road to Wangping Town became more and more difficult to walk. The heavy rain washed the road and there were landslides everywhere. Zhou Wuhong and the team members had to get off the bus and march in the water on foot with backpacks on their backs. Everyone's clothes were soaked and their feet were covered with mud, but the team members had only one idea in their hearts: "Go up early to rescue the victims..."

After arriving at the disaster site in Wangping Town, Zhou Wuhong felt even more sad at the sight of the scene. The beautiful scenery of the past is no longer there. Houses collapse, roads are damaged, and signals are interrupted. The trapped people can only rely on large forklifts and carts to move one after another... Zhou Wuhong and his team members took Wangping Town as the stop to quickly carry out patrol and search and rescue the wounded.

Hearing the arrival of the PLA medical team, the victims soon came to the free clinic and formed a long queue. Uncle Wang, 75 years old, accidentally cut a long hole in his leg by iron wire in the rainstorm. Due to lack of medicine, his wound was seriously infected and his whole leg was swollen.

He limped to the scene of the free clinic. Zhou Wuhong saw him and quickly helped him to the chair to examine his injury. Then he cleaned the wound for Uncle Wang, applied medicine and bandaged it, and explained to him the precautions for the use of anti-inflammatory drugs and other drugs.

"When the PLA comes, we will never be afraid of it again," said Uncle Wang, holding Zhou Wuhong's hand gratefully. Before leaving, he bowed deeply to the medical team members to express his gratitude.

In the next few days, the medical team members climbed over mountains and mountains, went to the village to enter the house, and tried their best to search and rescue the lost and trapped people. In a small factory destroyed by flood, Zhou Wuhong and his team found an injured worker. The man accidentally sprained his left foot while avoiding danger. He hid at a high place and hadn't eaten a mouthful of hot food for several days. The medical team members checked his injury, and after judging that the injury was not serious, they gave him some commonly used medicines to treat colds and fever. They also left their food to the injured man.

With the orderly development of the rescue and relief work, the roads, bridges, power and communication facilities of the affected villages were gradually restored, and Zhou Wuhong and his colleagues were able to quickly move to more distant villages for inspection.

"Girl, thank you for helping me with the wound." Uncle Li, a villager in Weizishui Village, Yanchi Town, said gratefully to Zhou Wuhong. Uncle Li is a village cadre. After the flood, in order to repair the circuit, he climbed the ladder to connect the line. Unexpectedly, he slipped and fell down from the ladder, and his right leg was scratched. Due to the lack of medicine in the village, the wound has begun to fester. Seeing this, Zhou Wuhong immediately picked up the debridement medicine, carefully disinfected Uncle Li, and after dressing up, she still told him: "Uncle, you should take the anti-inflammatory medicine after dinner, and you should change the medicine for your leg injury once every two days, so you must remember."

In Qingbaikou Village, the son of Aunt Tang came to the free clinic anxiously and said: "My mother is 83 years old and has a high fever at home. She is also nauseous and vomiting. What should I do? It's really urgent!" Zhou Wuhong immediately went to Aunt Tang's home with her teammates after learning the news and asked the captain.

When I arrived at her home, I found that Aunt Tang was deaf and mute, so it was very difficult to ask about her condition. Fortunately, Zhou Wuhong knew some sign language knowledge. With the translation of Aunt Tang's family, Zhou Wuhong and his colleagues soon learned about Aunt Tang's condition and initially diagnosed it as intestinal disease. Zhou Wuhong noticed that Aunt Tang's bedroom was humid and hot. She measured it with her mobile phone and found that the indoor temperature was as high as 39 degrees Celsius.

"You can cover the old man with a cool summer quilt. You can turn on the air conditioner properly to maintain the appropriate indoor temperature. If the temperature in the room continues to be too high, the old man will be at risk of dehydration." After the diagnosis and treatment, Zhou Wuhong was worried, and told her family about nursing precautions while walking. Before leaving, Aunt Tang nodded excitedly and thanked her.

In Zhuwo Village, 93 year old Uncle Suo is a veteran of the Anti Japanese War. The old hero also participated in the military parade for the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China. He suffered from heart disease. After the flood, he could not go out. Zhou Wuhong and his team members went to the old hero's house to visit him.

After arriving at Uncle Suo's house, Zhou Wuhong carefully measured his blood pressure and checked his heart with a stethoscope. The old man's blood pressure and pulse were normal. When Uncle Suo saw so many young people in military uniforms, he smiled happily: "I'm very happy that you can come. Seeing you, the victims will see hope."

The 984 Hospital where Zhou Wuhong lives has a strong team of spiritual and psychological experts. Zhou Wuhong takes the initiative to learn psychological knowledge after work and is ready to take the certificate of psychotherapist. Her psychological skills also played a significant role in this flood relief mission.

"Thanks to the psychological experts of the 984 Hospital, I have the confidence and courage to live." On August 11, a middle-aged man in Yanchi Town, Mentougou District excitedly said to Zhou Wuhong. It turned out that in 2016, he returned to his hometown to start his own business, invested nearly one million yuan to build a farmhouse, and bought more than 100 sheep, 300 chickens, and 2000 fish. Unexpectedly, they were all washed away overnight by the flood.

"I'm 44 years old, and I don't have a diploma. What can I do in the future? My friends around me are also affected, and I can't open my mouth to ask for help." Speaking of the sad part, the man couldn't help shedding tears.

"You are safe now, as long as people are here, there is hope..." Zhou Wuhong comforted him. She and her comrades in arms are also doing psychological relaxation training for the masses in the disaster area to maintain the psychological health of the victims. Colleagues all say that Zhou Wuhong is a brick. He can move wherever he needs and can do well wherever he moves.

"No matter which way you use, you will be very happy if you can help the people affected by the disaster." Zhou Wuhong also felt more deeply about this actual battle, "The sudden disaster comprehensively tests the emergency response capability of the people's military medical service system. Only by unswervingly listening to the Party's words and following the Party, can we have unswerving determination, confidence and perseverance to face each test."

The rescue continued. With the gradual recovery of communication, the family finally dialed Zhou Wuhong's phone. However, Zhou Wuhong did not know that the day after she left home, the child began to have a high fever. When her son needed care most, Zhou Wuhong did not accompany her. She often felt remorse. But for the health and safety of the victims, she still remained at the front line of the rescue with no regrets and no hesitation.
