Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, June 11 On June 10, the 29th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress voted to adopt the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Military Status and Rights and Interests, and President Xi Jinping signed Presidential Decree No. 86 to promulgate it, which will come into force on August 1, 2021.

The law on the status of servicemen and the protection of their rights and interests, adhering to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Building a Strong Military, with the fundamental purpose of serving the building of the combat effectiveness of the military, follows the principle of the unity of rights and obligations, the combination of material security and spiritual incentives, and the level of security compatible with national economic and social development It is an important law for national defense and military construction, as well as a basic and comprehensive law for the protection of military status and rights and interests.

There are 7 chapters and 71 articles in the Law on the Status of Soldiers and Protection of Rights and Interests. It mainly stipulates the leadership and management system of military status and rights protection, and establishes the working operation mechanism, fund guarantee mechanism and assessment and incentive mechanism; Legally stipulate the status of military personnel, clarify the responsibilities and missions of military personnel and the obligations stipulated in the Constitution and laws, as well as military political rights, democratic rights within the military and guarantee for military personnel to perform their duties; Establish the military honor maintenance system, and stipulate the connotation, access, cultivation mode, courtesy treatment and ceremony of military honor, as well as the protection of honor and reputation; We will standardize the system for ensuring the treatment of servicemen, and stipulate the basic treatment enjoyed by servicemen in terms of wages, housing, medical care, insurance, family leave, education and training, and settling down with the army; We will improve the pension and preferential treatment system for servicemen, and make provisions on the policies of praise for martyrs, death and disability pensions, as well as preferential treatment for servicemen and martyrs, servicemen who died on business, and survivors of sick servicemen in terms of employment placement, children's education, assistance and assistance, and judicial services; Establish a legal responsibility investigation mechanism to clarify the legal responsibilities and punishment measures for violations of the provisions of this Law.
