Yu Zhengsheng Meets with Representatives of the Fourth General Assembly of the National Taiwan Compatriot Investment Enterprise Friendship Association

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, April 25 (Reporter Zhao Bo) Yu Zhengsheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with representatives attending the fourth member congress of the National Association of Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises in the Great Hall of the People on April 25.

Yu Zhengsheng said that Taiwan businessmen and the Taiwan Enterprise Confederation have made positive contributions to the economic and social development of the mainland and the peaceful development of cross-strait relations. The mainland attaches great importance to and will actively create conditions to support the development of Taiwan enterprises and Taiwanese businessmen in the mainland.

Yu Zhengsheng stressed that the mainland's policy towards Taiwan is clear and consistent and will not change due to changes in Taiwan's political situation. We will adhere to the political basis of the 1992 Consensus, strive to maintain the status quo of the peaceful development of cross Straits relations, continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and promote the economic and social integration and development of the two sides. It is hoped that Taiwan businessmen will continue to carry forward the spirit of being the first and taking responsibility, and make greater contributions to promoting the development of cross Straits relations, deepening cross Straits economic exchanges and cooperation, and improving the well-being of compatriots on both sides of the Straits.
