According to the report, in 2023, China's food material consumption scale will grow significantly. The consumption of catering materials reached 2.12 trillion yuan, up 20.45% year on year. The retail consumption of food materials reached 7.25 trillion yuan, up 7.66% year on year. Benefiting from the recovery and development of the catering market, the chain rate of the catering industry continues to increase, and the consumption of food materials in China has gradually shifted from "quantity driven" to "quality driven".

Cui Zhongfu, vice president of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, said that China is the world's largest food consumption market, with food production accounting for about a quarter of the world's total. Against the backdrop of the slowdown of global food trade, China's food consumption market will reach 9.37 trillion yuan in 2023, with a year-on-year growth of 10.31%, and the demand will continue to grow steadily.

China's food supply chain enterprise chain gradually extends to the upstream. The survey results of 100 key food supply chain enterprises show that in 2023, the penetration rate of the direct procurement mode of the base will exceed 80%, effectively shortening the supply chain and reducing the cost of food procurement and circulation.

At the same time, the scale of China's food material trade has increased steadily, and the export competitiveness has been continuously enhanced. In 2023, China's agricultural trade volume will reach 333 billion US dollars, basically the same as the previous year. Among them, exports reached 98.9 billion US dollars, up 0.9% year on year. Vegetable exports showed a steady growth trend.

New momentum of the field: "chasing" the latitude, planting carrots can be marketed in the four seasons

Now, relying on the trans latitude planting base, the export volume of more than 40 carrot processing enterprises in Shouguang, Shandong, accounts for more than 60% of the national carrot export volume, becoming an important hub for carrot processing and export in China. This pattern of "chasing" the latitude to grow carrots has spread planting bases all over the country.

Xu Fugui is the party branch secretary of Qianzhang Village, Hualong Town, Shouguang City. In 1994, when Xu Fugui was a member of the village committee, he opened the first local carrot processing factory. The reason why he set up the factory is that a breakthrough has been made in a local carrot planting technology, which has enabled carrots to be planted and harvested for more than one year.

In order to meet the increasing market sales demand, the villagers of Qianzhang Village, Hualong Town, Shouguang City began to go out of Shouguang to find a carrot planting base.  

Today, from carrot planting to management, all carrot planting bases around the country adopt Shouguang standards. The integrated irrigation of water and fertilizer, as well as the promotion and application of rope weaving carrot planting technology in the country, not only saved labor and planting, but also significantly increased the output of carrots.
