According to the Report, the consumption scale of food materials in China will grow significantly in 2023. The consumption of catering materials reached 2.12 trillion yuan, up 20.45% year on year. The retail consumption of food materials reached 7.25 trillion yuan, up 7.66% year on year. Benefiting from the recovery and development of the catering market, the chain rate of the catering industry continues to increase, and the consumption of food materials in China has gradually shifted from "quantity driven" to "quality driven".
Cui Zhongfu, vice president of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, said that China is the world's largest food consumption market, with food production accounting for about a quarter of the world's total. In the context of the slowdown of global food trade, China's food consumption market will reach 9.37 trillion yuan in 2023, with a year-on-year growth of 10.31%, and the demand will continue to grow steadily.
China's food supply chain enterprise chain gradually extends to the upstream. The survey results of 100 key food supply chain enterprises show that the penetration rate of the direct procurement mode of the base will exceed 80% in 2023, effectively shortening the supply chain and reducing the cost of food procurement and circulation.

It is reported that in 2023, the trade volume of China's agricultural products will reach 333 billion US dollars, basically the same as that of the previous year. Among them, exports reached 98.9 billion US dollars, up 0.9% year on year. Vegetable exports showed a steady growth trend. Domestic demand for aquatic products and fruits continued to recover, and imports expanded in an orderly manner. In 2023, the "circle of friends" for foreign trade of food materials will continue to expand, and the customs will allow 146 kinds of inferior quality agricultural food products to be imported from 51 countries and regions. In 2023, the import and export trade volume of agricultural products of China and the countries jointly building the "Belt and Road" will reach 138 billion US dollars, accounting for 41.4% of China's agricultural trade volume. Among them, exports reached 46.73 billion US dollars, up 3.5% year on year.
