CAMCE News (Worker's Daily - CAMCE reporter Li Guo) On May 16, the sweet potato industry development conference in Pengshui Autonomous County, Chongqing was held. This year, Pengshui has further optimized and improved the layout with the concept of "ecology+organic+health", adhered to the whole product research and development, the whole chain building, and the whole benefit improvement, consolidated the "local specialty" article, systematically integrated the "eight ones" healthy food matrix, refined, expanded, and strengthened the sweet potato industry, and strived to build the "China Potato Powder City".
The meeting introduced the development status and demand of sweet potato industry in Pengshui Autonomous County, and the building of regional public brands. Some experts made keynote reports around the methods and paths to promote the upgrading of the whole chain of sweet potato industry, and representatives of relevant sweet potato enterprises made speeches. The conference also held a book giving ceremony for the Technical Guide of China's Sweet Potato Industry and Technology for Disaster Prevention and Reduction.
Shi Qiang, secretary of Pengshui Autonomous County Party Committee, introduced at the meeting that Pengshui has a history, foundation, feelings and potential to develop the sweet potato industry. In recent years, Pengshui has made great efforts to improve the quality, lengthen the chain, make the brand famous and strengthen the efficiency, and actively build the whole industrial chain of sweet potatoes. Efforts should be made to deepen the featured cultivation, focus on the four major actions of "three products and one standard" of agricultural products, accelerate the popularization and application of sweet potato varieties and advanced applicable technologies, and promote the transformation of sweet potato industry from high yield and high sales to high quality and high efficiency.
It is understood that in 2023, Pengshui County will plant 300000 mu of sweet potatoes with an annual output of 480000 tons, and there will be 32 sweet potato production and processing entities in the county. All kinds of processing entities (including manual workshops) in the county process 168000 tons of fresh potatoes annually, produce 30000 tons of sweet potato starch, actively create a regional public brand of "Pengjing Sweet Potato Powder", launch three flagship products, namely classic dry powder, hot pot wet powder, and Chongqing hot and sour powder, and achieve an annual output value of 800 million yuan in the whole industry chain.
