The Northern Expedition refers to the revolutionary war against the Northern Warlords launched by the Guangdong National Government in China from 1926 to 1927.
In February 1926, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a special meeting in Beijing, which clearly pointed out that the main task of the Party at present was to promote the development of revolutionary forces in Guangdong to the north.
On June 6, 1926, Chiang Kai shek was appointed Commander in Chief of the Northern Expedition Army.On July 1, the Guangdong National Government swore its oath to the Northern Expedition;On July 9, under the slogan of "overthrow the great powers and eliminate the warlords", the National Revolutionary Army led by the Guangdong National Government officially dispatched 100000 people to the Northern Expedition.

On March 24, 1927, Nanjing was captured. Since the third armed uprising of Shanghai workers had won, the Northern Expedition Army entered Shanghai on March 26.
